It sounds like your battery is dead, and when boosting I think you have bad connections, either at your cables ar possibly the starter. Make sure all your connections are clean and tight, and it should go with a boost.

Do you use a battery tender? If you don't I would invest in one at Wal-Mart. Keeps the battery charged all the time. Six years is good service out of a battery.

I have one for when we have our cold snaps. Cheap insurance is what I figure. $20 for one at Wallyworld.

Any 18 Ah battery Shall be on a auto float charger any time the bike isn't running or parked at work for the day. 6 years isn't too bad.

Go to walley world and buy the latest Shumaker charger for 20 bucks, nothing less, nothing more.

I agree with you totally. Any battery sitting for a few days, summer or winter is going to drain a certain amount. Hot and cold weather are both bad on a battery. When I ride the first thing I do when I get home is to plug the tender into the pigtail. Keeps the battery fully charged all the time. Best $20.00 I have spent.

In summer when I remove it from the bike in day time I stuff it up on the cage. Charge the car by day, and the bike by night.

I am still tryin' to recall when that cage battery came to be. The one with the blue over spray from painting the car in 02. It still passes the load test with flyin' colors...

With my luck I just can't see how this is possible. ???

Bugman, glad to hear you are up and running again. Hopefully you will get another year or two out of your battery.

What do you mean by 11.9 with a load? I hope that isn't a running engine.

MAS, You are probably right, but i had great luck bring back a old sulfated batt with that shumaker anti sulfation pulse charger. It takes some doing to impress me and i am.

His batt is six years old. Mine did the same thing at that age. Two weeks later I was stranded.

He could possibly squeak some more time out of it, but after getting stranded I wouldn't take the chance.

These FI bikes are particular when it comes to batts.

It's good to see you back.
