Hard to watch

Hi
I don't usually visit this page of the site. I just get depressed most times. But I had a friend send me this link, suggesting that my government should have the guts to put this on the TV like the Australian Gov't did.

Like I said it is hard to watch. I felt a little ill after watching it.
You can follow a few of the victims. One of the ones that shows a motorcycle victim who got hurt, is pretty gruesome but shows what can happen if you don't wear any gear. I think he had a helmet on, but no leathers.

Hard to watch

Ricky, no one wants to watch accidents and the aftermath but what's sad is accidents like these happen more often than we might think. Just in our 5 parish Troop C coverage there were 5 fatalities in the last week. One was a 16 year old young lady who was ejected from the back seat of the car she was riding in when it hit a tree. Alcohol related fatalities are far too common here.

Ricky, videos like this can never be posted enough. If only the right people would watch them a lot of lives might be saved. Thanks for posting it.

I hope I haven't offended/shocked/sickened you Mitch {or any one else that might watch it} " Ricky, no one wants to watch accidents and the aftermath but..."
Sure isn't my intent. I get caught up in posts that incl. helmets/no helmets.....left hand turns in front of riders....you name it. I just think that all "rights" aside. We owe it to each other {as human beings} to do everything we can to avoid injury to ourselves and each other. Forget about the insurance companies, the money and all the other CRAPOLLA. Human lives is what I'm "talk'in bout". I don't mean to stir the pot here, I'm just trying to get some kind of point across. One look at this ad and you'll know what I mean. I might just be feeling sentimental or maybe it's my time of the month. Did I just say that ??? :-/ :-[ grp. hug????

No offense taken Ricky. I hate to admit it but I became desensitized to adult highway gore a long time ago. Kids are different. I'm thankful for not having to assist in many accidents involving children.

It all boils down to the choices each of us make. Sometimes they are not very good ones. Most times we are lucky enough to learn from our mistakes and live through them, but not always.

Not offended. When I was young and going through Driver Ed. we saw an auto accident movie every week that would make a Sam Peckinpah movie look tame. They were just smash and gore accident movies. No message other than you will be dead.

This video showed all different perspectives and all the people affected. I thought this video made a powerful point. It reminds me of a German PSA that uses a man's family (metaphorically) as his seat belt.

Too bad it's 5 minutes long. Hardy anyone has that long of an attention span anymore.

I took a defensive driving course "back in the day" when I just got my license. Our films were pretty similar I'm sure. I remember clearly that it was a small classroom with improper ventilation, the temp was about 90 outside ...prob. hotter in the class. I watched a couple of movies/films/newsreel type videos and had to go and sit on the curb to gather my thoughts and composure. I mean they were gruesome. I was scared stiff for a while that I was going to die behind the wheel. I eventually got over it all of course and started to act as stupid as my friends. Until someone I knew at school got T-boned one night acting the ass. I was pretty conscientious after that.

Ricky, I can appreciate your point. There is nothing pretty about the process of death. I don't enjoy watching such things, but I appreciate them. They remind me of the importance of humility and focus when I am riding.

It is a very powerful video and while not pretty to watch, that is the point. If it shocks some people long enough to save someone from a crippling accident or death, then it is doing it's job.

Not offensive at all Ricky.... I'm glad I watched it.. People need to realize the actions of their driving while under the influence.... I know too many friends who've either killed or been killed out on the highway.

I see this type of scene 4- 5 times a year (thank God not more often) .... And we can put all the commercials on DWI and speeding you want (there are not enough for my taste) as long as our judicial systems hand out lollypop sentences, nothing will change! Be safe this Chritmas folks...let's not meet by accident...

A harsh reminder to not drive while impaired including prescription meds and just being too tired.
