OK, Got my curiosity up. I'm sure that I'll find another thread as soon as I post on this one. When the posts start on this thread, I hope to see (as well as install); any info on performance, availability, cost???

I mean really, how hard do you think it is. The plate bolts to the throttle body with four socket head screws. Then you put the air sensor and crank vent hose on. Install the air cleaner, and enjoy the difference.

Anything that isn't being used you remove and put in a box.

I was wanting to take everything apart and have it ready before I received it. So at this point no part in hand, didn't know what was staying on the and what needed to be gutted, hoses, wires, etc, but wanted to go ahead and gut the rest for a quick install and ride. That's all.

After reading my reply, I think it came out with the wrong tone.

What I was trying to say was just take everything apart down to the bare TBI. Once you get the plate you can remove the sensors from the original backing plate and install into Joe's plate. Then just bolt it up. Nothing hard about it.

Have you stopped riding in KY already? It's cool here in NC but still very nice riding weather.

I ride 12 months a year. It is all assembled and running, but I am a fan of using the spacers under the tank. Is there any other work around? I assume they are keeping the tank from rattling on the dog bowl.

My 1500's tank is different.

I'm not sure what you mean by spacers. The 1500 has two rubber dampers on the frame rails to keep the tank from rattling.

The 'dogbowl' shouldn't come close to the tank.

The spacers fit under the tank rear bolt brackets. Joe provides the longer bolts that are required once the spacers are slipped under the rear fastner tabs. This is to keep the offset right dogbowl from coming in contact with the bottom of the tank after the dual plate mod is installed. They are approximately 5/16" - 3/8" thick. Just an estimate.

With the 7" open element it isn't necessary.

I think I would have went that route, if I knew this at the time. I am short, I want this thing dropped in inch, not raised any. I wonder if I can cut up the dog bowl for clearance. Whether I can do this and have it look decent is the question.

I may end up removing the dog bowl like you did on the left, if I can find something cool to put there, or if it looks good naked.

You can go to Pep Boys or whoever is there and get a MR Gasket 6 1/2" open element air cleaner for under $20.00.

You should be able to mount it to the inner plate. That would let you try the smaller cleaner without spending big bucks.

That is the one I'm running. The only thing is that it is noisier.

Reason for the 1/2" shims at the rear of the tank is indeed to gain clearance between the tank and the stock dog bowl cover. I could have made a adapter plate like the other companies have, but what that does is make the entire kit stick out farther thus loosing leg room on the right side.

How much space do you have between the tank and the dog bowl cover right now? We could make the spacers a bit thinner if you prefer.

Joe, can he take the plates apart and just use the inner one, maybe try a setup like mine?
