2007 Nomad Water Pump Leak Help

2007 Kawasaki Nomad 14k miles

alright need some help here. I just replaced the water pipe oring at the water pump inlet hose and of course the base gasket. just got back from a test ride and then got the fan to come on, and then it started to leak but they say if it leaks down the over flow tube then its the mechanical seal, but it appears to be leaking right at the hose. My thoughts are maybe the hose is bad? is it just possible the hose isn't tight enough on the inlet pipe?

Please help I will replace the seal if bad but I don't think its the seal due to all the troubleshooting tips of the seal not showing up.

ok so I might have solved the problem, but looking for confirmation before I continue, I says to applygrease to the oring going into the hose pipe, would I assume like a wheel bearing grease or ?

Wheel grease or even vaseline will work, if you missed that step it could well be the cause of your leak.

You must be getting the motor quite warm for the fan to kick on, mine rarely ever comes on unless its a very hot day and Im idling a lot as in heavy traffic. As soon as Im moving the fan shuts off within a few seconds.

I'd use vaseline or a silicone-based grease myself.

Wouldn't Vaseline break down. I used to use it on fishing reels but after some useage I had to replace it.

Wow Scott, your posts are all 1's.

Guess it could be with 11,111 showing. Of course it doesn't show that anymore, guess you ruined that equation.

I've not had this problem (yet), but looking at the parts diagram, I'd ask if you cleaned the water pump housing where the "O"ring fits really good, and the water pipe too? and if the tang was bent that the bolt goes thru to hold the water pipe in the housing? From other experiences, I've found that Vaseline can deteriorate some types of "O"rings, so I would use an "O"ring lube. You might could try using a washer on the water pipe hold down tang to give it more support, but you shouldn't need to silicone it in, there's something else not quiet right.
