clock and trip odometer resets

For the last few days, every morning my clock and trip odometer is resetting at start up. My radio in my fairing is also resetting. Seems to start ok. Is this my battery going or loose connection?
I will take the seat off this weekend and see if I can find the problem.
Any suggestions?
2007 1600 Nomad. Original battery with 26000 miles.

thanks,

I think you are on the right track. I'd guess either a bad connection or a almost dead battery. Check all the connections and if they look good, take you battery in to be tested.

I'm guessing low battery, too. Is it slow when turning over?

See if they're re-setting AFTER you turn it over (vs. prior to using the starter).

Check the connections first, but I think you'll find your battery is on its last legs.

When I thought I might need a new one, I checked the Batteries Plus store in Tempe and found one in stock that looked pretty good. Turned out I didn't need one, though.

I think this was the one I found:

Mine had a AGM battery in it and it lasted almost eight years, so I replaced it with another one.

Yuasa is a good battery to run in motorcycles. I think Sears even carries a Die Hard for the Nomad.

I've had this same symptom a couple of times.
I have a feeling it's an ignition switch problem.
Sometimes the key is difficult to remove after I switch on.
If I wiggle the key out I occasionly get a reset.
But most often just a quick on/off of the electrical.
Mine is an '06' and I assume the battery is original.
So far this season I've been on a 1600 mile and a 2000 mile journey with no battery caused starting issues.

That battery is going on 5 years old. I'd try some graphite lock lube in the key slot and see if that doesn't fix the sticky key issue.

I have been debating on any reply.

My answer right now would be to buy a 20 dollar walley world Shumaker charger and a multimeter. Then read the batterty, charge the battery, read it again some time after the charger green light comes on when cranking the engine to start.

My 06 AGM reads 12.84 dcvolts at standing rest, just like a new AGM should.

I expect mine to last due to the care it gets 8 years+

Others have bought batterys when something else was the problem.

I have been having the same resetting problem for almost two years. I suspected a worn out battery, but didn't replace it because it is less than five years old. I eventually put a Battery Bug on my bike and it shows that the battery is nearly the end of it's life at 28%. I needs to be replaced at 10%. I suspect that part of my problem was not riding the bike for a few days in a row and then starting it. I suspect that I would have a problem starting the bike at 32 degrees.

sounds like a dieing battery cell i had some problems with it in the spring and once mid season then during a ride for no apparent reason the battery was dead. Riding home one night, lights wer bright and everything , stopped for a coffee , went to leave and no go. had the battery tested and found that a cell fell and shorted the battery dead. no fixin it . I bought a yuasa for 80 bucks can. ive herd good things about this aftermarket batt.

thanks for the info. Going to get a new battery today.
I checked all connections. now it does it everytime I start.
I turn key on, the speedo does the test, then I start the engine and then the speedo goes all the way up again and that is when it resets everything, just after start up.

bobcat what battery was that? You can't test the AGM oem battery that way.
