Starter Lockout Switch
Does anyone know where the starter lockout switch is located? (2000 Nomad 1500, carbed)
While trouble shooting my intermittent miss I ran across the switch on the wiring diagram. It is tied into the neutral light, the start button and power switch which seems to be a good location for my problem. The manual doesn't tell where it's mounted. Zoom45

Starter Lockout Switch
I found it. It's the small switch that the clutch lever works. It's mounted on the bottom of the clutch reservoir.

There is 3 in all. Neutral switch, side stand switch, and clutch switch. I addmit the words you chose threw me off. That happens sometimes.

Starter Lockout Switch
The repair manual has a guide that shows where all the electrical switches are mounted except for the "starter lockout switch". It just shows an illustrated parts breakout and I can't tell from the picture what it's mounted on but I figured it out tracing the wiring diagrams. I checked all the connections, cleaned them and so far it ran great to work this morning without a stumble.

Zoom that is what I figured you did. The book is lacking IMO. For the money I would like a color and bigger wiring diagram. Who ever designed that diagram either has eagle eyes, or figures it is a waste of paper. No doubt a bean counter thought it was a waste of paper.
All tech books contain errors. I never found one yet all correct, but Kawii books are loaded with errors. Some are in torque specs and when they mean foot pounds they state inch pounds. Opps! Some wires are strange to see too, at the ecu there is gray with pink and a pink with gray and holy hell to decide which is which. I ask my wife to look for her better vision and after she decides I still test with a ohms meter to be sure. (solder on TFI fuel mod) I am still in the process wondering what bone head engineer designed the 05 and up battery hold down too. If I knew and could get my greasy fingers on his hair, his hair would be tacked to my wall, hangin off one or another War Clubs................really ![]()
