Stebal horn mounting

Hi all
reading the instructions with the stebal horn and it warns not to mount horizontal. Has anyone mounted the unit horizontal and if so what was the outcome. thinking of mounting unit where goat belly was located.

Thanks
Jeff

Stebal horn mounting

I mounted mine on the original mounting bracket. Before the Nomad I had a Classic. I had separated the compressor from the horn and mounted it in the storage compartment. I had it mounted horizontally with no problems. Gadget's site gives good instructions on how to do this. Hope this helps.

I don't think they would specifically state not to mount it horizontally if there was no problem in doing so.

I am with you Scott. I would try to follow their instructions. I am sure there may have been problems in the past with people mounting them horizontal.

Stebal horn mounting

It's true that they warn not to mount horizontal. I believe it has to do with the lubrication of the compressor. That being said though, I separated mine and mounted the pump horizontally 7 years ago and it's still works flawlessly and I have never had a problem. Maybe I would have had problems if I was using it constantly, I don't know, but it's gets a healthy blast a couple of times a month. YMMV

Which Stebel did you go with? I'm in between the black or chrome-- i'm considering blacking out some parts of the bike (head light basket).

There is a difference between the stebels apparently- compact air vs. tuning (cost wise also). I've used WOLO Bad Boy's- very similar and also made in Italy, with great resulst and reliability.

I bought the chrome stebel Nautilus Compact. Not the superchrome. Got it from Bikerhighway.

Stebal horn mounting

Thanks for the input guys. I bought the chrome from bikerhighway. Fast ship and good price. I wish I bought the black one instaed of the chrome. Mounted it where the goat belly was and think the black one would be less visible. I mounted it horizontally with the bracket from the oem horn. Thinking of making a bracket to change to the vertical position and raise it a touch.

Thanks
Jeff

I would love to see pictures of your new mount.

Has anyone bought the more expensive stebel tuning in chrome? I wonder how big it is compared to the original compact air horns?
