Stebel horn problem solved
I bought a Stebel horn as a winter project and had problems with it after getting all the wiring done and mounted. I thought I would share what I found in case it helps someone else.
I didn't get the "super chrome" one and wasn't impressed by the dull finish or the look in general, so I had taken it apart and painted the compressor black in hopes of making it just blend in. I got it all put back together and was disappointed in the sound. It sort of sounded like a duck. My first troubleshooting attempt didn't work. I couldn't remember if it was polarized and couldn't really see the bottom of the compressor with it mounted on the bike, so I just reversed the wires. This makes the compressor run backwards and you get practically no sound at all. Yesterday I had more time and decided to fix it or replace it. I tested my wiring (OK) and tried with just the compressor. This worked, so I came to the conclusion that I must have an air leak that was preventing me from getting decent sound.. I put some teflon tape around the compressor output and put it back together. Problem solved.

Stebel horn problem solved
Yeah, yeah. :) I know that others have taken these apart. Most people do it to separate the compressor from the horn. I would liked to have hidden the compressor and may still do that. I didn't really see a good way to mount the horn separately.

Stebel horn problem solved
It sounds like you had an easy fix, better than spending a few hours and still have the same problem. I worked on a lawnmower today thats almost brand new, spent over two hours on it and it still doesn't run.
