Pulling a trailer

Does your trailer seem to stabilize your bike? I pulled mine all over Florida this week and also in the rain all day today. It was loaded down but I couldn't tell it was behind the bike except for increased stopping distance. Even in the rain the bike handles well with it in tow. I did increase my trailer tire pressure. On the way back I noticed some uneven tire wear. It looked like the outside edges of the tires were wearing more than the middle. I normally run 20psi so I went to 40psi on the way back. It looked like a more ever wear after I got home. I guess I had more weight in it than when I checked the tire tread on wet concrete after building it.

40 psi seems high... I run a HF trailer with around 300 lbs of junk on it, at 24 psi and get El Zippo tire wear on the trailer in 15,000 miles.

I wouldn't tow that trailer empty on a bet at 40 psi... That will get it bouncing.

Bobby, I run between 36 to 40 psi in my trailer tires. Maximum inflation is 60 psi. It pulls well with 38 psi and makes a good tread pattern print at that pressure after rolling in water. I just leave it there. Haven't experimented with differing pressures.

Pulling a trailer

I have never pulled a trailer with any of my bikes but some here say it seems to stabalize the ride.

If you tire pressure is too low it will wear the outside edges of your tires. Just keep an eye on them and adjust the pressure as you see fit.

You want enough air that the tires don't wear, and not so much the trailer hops or bounces.

Probably just 120 lbs of beer. In Canada you don't really need ice. That much beer is only about 1/2 days worth. It might make it till lunch time.Don't fergit a pint weighs 16 oz which is a pound after all.

Please don't rub that in, it hurts just thinking about canuk beers from where i sit. The border is just 3 hours ride..

The LAW says i can't ride up there and fill the bike trailer and the saddle bags with better than 450 pounds of beer!

You canuks won't friggin send me any either! What's with that anyway?

All I do to fix these bikes, and no one will send me a 6 pak of la batts, and I get this pee water instead. :'(
