opinions on Mustang seats
Okay so I am finally able to get out on the new bike and the stock seat sucks! How much more comfy are the Mustangs or is there something else better?

opinions on Mustang seats
i have gone to the vintage mustang seat with backrest and it is better for me than the stock...Enough better that I feel satisfied that I got value for my purchase...I generally use at least a sheepskin cover...sometimes I use an Airhawk cushion plus the sheepskin.....Every butt is different and seat satisfaction is very subjective.

opinions on Mustang seats
I ordered a Mustang seat years ago and had to wait 7 weeks for it to come in.
I tried, I really tried to like the seat but after about 5,000 miles I took it off, sold it for $100.00 and put the stock seat back on. I liked the stock seat better! Then again, it's a 1500 Nomad and it was the seat to have for years. A few years back I had "Piper Enterprise" redo the seat for me. Now it's the best seat ever! Then again, I do have a Australian sheepskin on it for that added padding. Cool in the summer, no matter how hot it is and warm in the cold winter months! ![]() If you can find someone to re pad your seat then you will save a crap load of money! .

opinions on Mustang seats
when I first got my mustang, I had only used the stock for about 600 miles. I just new from having my 750 vulcan that once a new model year comes out, accessories dried up quick and mustangs went for a premium. So I got one right off the bat. Honestly, at first I was not that impressed, however I LOVED having the drivers back rest. but i bet it was about 2000K in I started thinking man, this is pretty good. it was weird, like I could feel it molding to my ass on that ride. it was strange I tell ya.. I love it now..

I am still sitting on the stock seat and probably will. I have gotten used to it by now. Did a 2,000 plus round trip last year and it wasn't all that bad.
I have heard a lot say they love the Mustang and a few don't like. Guess it is just up to the individual.

Check into a Diamond Seat, custom made for your likes and dislikes. I really like mine.

I love the Mustang seat with backrest except for the fact that is moves you forward a bit. I'd really prefer to be back away from the tank more.

I put a Mustang seat on soon after buying bike. I'm comfy but wife still isn't all that satisfied. So I put on sheepskin pads and will see what happens. I like the pads. Wife hasn't had much riding time yet this year. Seems like the weather turns to crap on her days off lately.

Do you have the 1500 or 1600? I ask because I have the Mustang Regal and absolutely love it. Thing is, it only fits the 1500. Cost was good through a local shop which gives deep discounts on parts ordered.

I have the mustang with the backrest, I was not to sure about my purchase at first as there seems to be a long break in period. as of now I like it, the only draw back for me is the forward position as previously mentioned

I did my 1st long trip on the stock seat...Hated It.
Second long trip was on the Mustang. It was better. Too far forward as noted above. Still not the greatest. Last year did 3500 miles on a custom seat from Russell Daylong. I am in heaven when I ride now. Never have to stop due to butt pain. It ain't cheap though. ![]()

I had a Mustang on the Volusia and did many long trips and loved it. There is a break in period and, as posted already, it tends to form to your butt somehow.
I really like the 1600 stock seat and I do long rides in comfort. In warm weather I do use an Alaska Leathers sheepskin which does make a big difference.

had a mustang on previous bike and knew I needed one for the Nomad. Bought both second hand but new enough to need a short break-in/ adjustment period to me.... about 4 hrs. lol.
Immediate gratification over stock seat. Shape has a lot to do with it. Flatter seating area with some room to move about and still be in the pocket. Some lumbar support on the model with no backrest but I would opt for the backrest. Seems a bit firm at first butt it seems to be better for the long runs than the extra cushy and don't even notice anymore.

Daylong seat for me. Had a Mustang on the last bike. It was better than the stocker, but only by an hour. I can ride all day on the Daylong, so can my passengers. I have done a 1000 kms in one day in relative comfort. Two hours on the stocker and I was uncomfortable. The Daylongs are more expensive than a Mustang, thats true, but for me and my leg problems (circulation and sciatica) I need as much comfort as I can possibly get and the extra dough is a small price to pay so I can go on rides more than 2 hours from home.
