Speed Govenor?

Anybody know if there is a speed governor on the Nomads? I have an 07' and she won't go over 110 MPH. If there is, is there a way to defeat it?

Joe

Do you need to go faster than 110 mph? ::)

There is a rev limiter and once you hit the limiter, that's as fast as you can go in that gear.

Hmmm, sounds like we need a six speed tranny lol. Like they say, it's not the speed, it's the sudden stops :)

LOL.... 112 is book max... You might beat that but not by much. Take it up to 100 in 3rd hit over drive 4th and get to 112 if you can then hit over drive 5th. Look out fer the blue lights.

It's not a speed governor, its an RPM governor. 5900 max. A fully loaded nomad won't do an honest 110 with the windshield and saddlebags on . too much frontal wind resistance. If you see 120MPH on your speedometer your actually doing about 108MPH. AS mac pointed out you'll go faster in 4th than 5th gear.

20 MPH above the posted limit, OR above 85 MPH is felony speeding in AZ. You can go to jail for that. I don't need to go any faster than 85.

Speed Govenor?

You guys can kid if ya want but I've been wondering the same thing.

I live at 1200 feet above sea level. The road to my house starts at sea level and 8 miles later I'm at 1200 feet. Going up hill with no passenger I can't get my '07 to go over 90mph.

Same road going down hill I can get up to 115mph. Yes I know the reason for this but damm these bikes are SLOW.

1600CC, 850lbs plus my 250lbs, wind resitance, yada,yada.

All I'm saying is the Nomad is slow! My Harley 1200cc Sportster at 500 lbs plus my 250 lbs will run up the same hill at 130mph. Thats only 350 lbs lighter but 400cc smaller. Heck 400cc use to be a good size motor.

I like the Nomad for cruzing with my wife but if she didn't like to ride it would be just to slow for me to own. Not that I speed all the time but every now and then a good rush clears the head and having a motor between your legs that can get and sh*t when the blue hairs are after ya helps. [blue hairs = old ladies that can't drive or see ya] Just my 2 cents.

There is one guy on here that has a turbo-charger on his Nomad. It's a pretty expensive mod but I think I remember someone saying it would go 147 mph. I can't think of who it is at the time.

I believe the article below is the bike he owns:
