Finally saw a Voyager

Well I stopped at the local dealer and SURPRISE, they finally have a Voyager on the floor. I can honestly say that after seeing it in person, I am not wowed. It did not reach out and grab me the way I thought it would. the bags and the trunk seemed to be flimsy. It does have a lot of nice options and there are many things I like about it but of course they won't let you ride it so I won't be buying one any time soon. I just won't buy something without riding it first.

Oh well will probably be a year or two before I go shopping again anyway so we will have to wait and see. Gonna pay off the nomad first cause I intend to keep it as my solo bike. Then go buy momma a couch on wheels.

I checked out the new voyager too when I went for swingarm seals. I'm not impressed at all. I think Kawasaki made a huge mistake discontinuing the 1600 nomad. I think a dressed up 1600 like many of you have is a way better platform than the 1700. The price tag out the door on the voyager was 25000. I will definately keep the old girl. Bdog

Not sure how the exchange rates works out but the 2010 is under 16,000 in the US

I wasn't impressed with the Voyager either and really disappointed in the 1700 Nomad.
They redesigned the frame on the Nomad and since I'm tall and long legged there is no leg room on it.

I'll stick with my 08 Nomad.

I went tot he web page and saw a video of the 2010 Voyager (Red and Black) and was impressed with the video.

However, I would love it if Kawasaki had a version of the Nomad with a detachable fairing and perhaps an option for lower fairing.

I may not like some of the things about the 1700 but overall I still think it is a good value compared to the competition....that is asssuming you can pick one up for 10-15% off MSRP....which I think is realistic.

They do have a couple bugs but it sounds like they will get worked out.

I was hard for me to give up my 2000 Toyota 4Runner for a new version as well but after all my whining about more plastic parts and the looks I must admit my new one is more powerful, smoother, and better on gas. I think it is natural to hang on to our favorites and be reluctant to accept change.

The one I saw was priced at 16,999 and Kaw is doing the $1 per cc rebate so it is still priced ok.

Too bad Kawasaki did not offer a Premeux style Nomad in the 05-08 design (with no pinging, and cruise) for a reasonable price. I think they would sell a lot more of those than the new Nomad or Voyager.

Same problem with the 1700 Nomad and Voyager as with the 1600 Nomad - NO ACCESSORIES>

I have only seen maybe two of the Voyagers since they were introduced. I don't think they are selling as many as the older style bikes. Unless they're not popular around here as they are in other areas.

I have seen three of them around here at Fort Polk. That is a lot for such a small community.

Finally saw a Voyager

I was at a local Kawi dealer today doing some looking around for a new helmet. They had a '10 red/black Voyager in stock, the first one I have seen in person. The color combination definitely caught my eye, and it looks very sharp. I also really like the instrument panel. It reminds me of an old muscle car's display. I was kind of disappointed by the trunk and bags. The trunk didn't seem like its capacity was all that big. Granted, it's better than nothing, but it didn't seem as big as I thought it would be. Also, I opened one of the saddlebags. It seems thinner than my 08's bags, and I had a hell of a time getting it closed. It wouldn't latch, and I had to put quite a bit of oomph on it to get it shut, which flexed the lid. The salesman was kind of giving me the stink eye at this point, so I left it alone after getting it shut. This dealer has the most unfriendly salespeople and owner I have ever encountered, which would explain why I have never bought anything from them. They seem as if they couldn't care less if you walk in the door or not. I don't understand how you can do business like that. I do all my business with a different dealer that is 50 miles further away, that's where I bought mine. On the bright side, I did get to try on several helmets today. The HJC CL-modular I currently have just isn't that comfortable anymore. I tried on the HJC IS 33 that has been discussed recently. Very nice helmet, it's definitely on my list of considerations. It's a very light helmet.
Overall, I don't think the Voyager comes close to the happiness with my Nomad. I'll be keeping it for quite a while.

I have only seen the new Voyager in dealer showrooms. They are nice bikes but I really have what I want so am just not in the market for another bike.

Prarie Cruiser if you happen to purchase the IS-33 helmet I think you will like it. I have really enjoyed mine for the two days I have ridden with it on.

blah blah...the bags suck...blah blah...they're too cramped...blah blah...why didn't they just keep the 1600s and put cruise on them...blah blah... no accessories..blah blah whine.

Did I miss anything?

Finally saw a Voyager

I just bought a 2010 voyager and with only 250 miles on it there are 2 things I have found that I like over my 2008 Nomad. 1. the way it handles at slow speeds like in parking lots. To me very easy to handle. 2. I like the 6 speed. The trunk size seems to be ok, you can put 2 full size helmet in it with room to spare. The bags I think will be ok although they are thinner than the bags on the 08. I'll keep everyone posted as I ride it. I loved my 08 Nomad and this bike has some big shoes to fill.
