The deed is done!

I pick up my 2009 2-tone Nomad/w lightbar next week. Kawi incentives rock! I'm pretty damn happy with it. I'll post up pics when I get her home.

Your wife is screwed now! Projects around the house will be slow in getting finished. Extra money will evaporate. A cruise ship vacation will seem like a monumental waste of vacation days that could be spent on Rallies. You'll spend time in the evening talking about Nomads on the net. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Life will never be the same. Enjoy it!

Heh...I've ridden for close to 20 years...so all that has been happening for a while...the only thing that will change is the type of bike I'm talking about on the net. Thanks all!

The deed is done!

Sport-Tourers account for 6 of the 7 (now 8) bikes I have owned.

1. 1990 Suzuki GSX400F (Think Katana)
2. 2000 Katana 750
3. 2003 Yamaha FZ1
4. 2004 Honda VFR
5. 2002 CBR1100XX
6. 2006 Yamaha Warrior
7. 2004 ZZR1200

Yea....crazy ain't it? I really like my Warrior...but after the honeymoon wore off, I realized I was just entirely to short for all the controls. (5'7" 30" inseam) My feet were always bouncing off the pegs...I had to reach for the bars..and so on. So it didn't last long and I got the ZZR1200.
In the ideal world I would have two bikes...but such is not the case. I took a new vulcan out for an extended testride last year and fell in love with it. Now that everything has been moved in closer in the cockpit, it fits like a glove. I've been scheming since then and cannot wait until next week!

That's a lot of fast bikes. Are you sure you are ready to go this slow?

I wanted a slow bike, because I don't have the good sense to go slow on my own. I had a V-65 that went way too fast for my self-control. I take test rides on a VMax and Rocket III at 130mph. I need a slow bike to take care of what self-control won't.

Are you really ready for a slow bike? It is a great bike, and I've had one for the past 11 years, so not trying to talk you out of it.

The Nomad will go plenty fast for me. For 99% of my riding I believe I will absolutely love riding the Nomad. It's comfy and it's very stable on the road. The only time I'm gonna miss my sportbikes is when I hit the curves(which are few and far between in IA)...and I'll simply have to re-adjust my thinking to my pace...then I'll enjoy them as well.

And also like you Dan..if the speed is there, I will use it....I won't mention the speeds I went...but suffice it to say that realized the potential in all my bikes..and frequently hit triple digits. My ZZR and CBR would break 100 in a blink.
But yea...I can go slow enjoy it. :)

Rob

You won't think about getting from point A to B now. It's all about what's in between. For the few times you want to push turns you've made a good decision.

When I was researching bikes in 98-99 again, I purposely wanted a slow bike, that tours well. I figured that on the Nomad, the fastest that I'd ever crash is at 100mph, not 150.

I haven't regretted it. The nomad does nothing great, but it does virtually everything well. I have found that I have just found slower ways to get the thrill of speed, like the pic in my signature. I even get the thrill of speed when dealers are crazy enough to send me a post card inducing me to come test ride something fast like the new VMax. :)

The Nomad is a great all around bike.

There's nothing like the anticipation and excitement in the days leading up to picking up a new bike. Congrats, and have fun!
