On the spur of the moment yesterday I decided to go on a ride and left about 9:30 for Tucson. The temperatures were supposed to be in the high 70s. About the only thing to see between Chandler and Tucson is Picacho Peak. Nothing spectacular, just a nice place to stop for a break.

Not a cloud anywhere and an incredible blue sky.

Looking back toward Tucson.

Snow pack runoff created a nice little waterfall.

Yep, that is the road in the upper right.

The roads were dry and there is still quite a bit of snow on top. Temperature was in the mid 40s.

There was nobody in front of me going down the mountain. The speed limit is 35 mph and is just right for going through the corners in 3rd. Glad I took all the pictures going up, it was a lot of fun going back down.

The only heavy traffic was in Tucson. The rest of the time I had the road pretty much to myself. Stopped at Picacho Peak for some ice cream and finally got home about 6pm. The round trip was 300 miles and averaged 40 mpg.

Very nice post and pics! I've been meaning to get down there with my wife but just haven't found the right day off to go. Guess I'll have to hurry if I wanna still see the snow up there....

It is spectacular, rugged and beautiful in the desert Southwest.

Looks like a nice ride Mark. All we would have right now is the snow picture but not the dry roads.

Been down that way a few times. Really pretty and good weather. Its always been on four wheels and in the middle of summer though. Would have loved to have been there with you. Going to have to work on that. Thanks for sharing those really nice pics.

Great pics. ;)

I was just up there last week. I saw a black Nomad parked on a turn-out; and posted to see if it was a member's bike... but no response.

Saw a lot of bikes on the day I went... I unfortunately was in a cage on that trip. :-[
