Kevlar Brake Pads
Has anyone tried Kevlar brake pads? They're all over Ebay at present. Thoughts....?

No, but I hear the teflon brake pads are pretty sweet.

Kevlar Brake Pads
If they are anything like the EBC organic one's !! I didn't like them as they don't stop good. I found out just messing around on the test pad in a lot where you go for your MC test. Take off and do a sudden stop. I couldn't even get the rear tire to lock up.
I will stick with the sintered metal pads! Quote:

Kevlar Brake Pads
CJ are those tefflon pads the ones that require WD-40 spray for cooling? Or are they the ones that they recomend using poly unsaturated oil with?
Seriously, what are other people experiencing as far as pad life? I seem to get longer tire and brake life than others but I am a heavy user of the front brake and engine braking and often don't use rear. I have just shy of 30K on bike. Checked the front and rear pads at 24K and 26 K (when last I changed tires) and less that 50% worn>

trosco, that's my experience also. I use engine braking a LOT and the pads don't wear much at all.

I have changed the rear pads twice so far, I seem to get 20,000 miles on them. The fronts are still original. I use the EBC sintered pads and they stop ok, but they are a little noisey compared to the oem pads.

OEM pads are sintered metal like the EBC pads. I think EBC makes a Kevlar/organic combination pad. I don't understand why the aftermarket sintered metal pads would be noiser. I think the OEM pads are pretty noisy. The noise is a kin to nails on a chaulk board to me.

Clutch spring and brake pad life is directly related to rider input. I don't sit at light with the clutch pulled in and I usually don't hit the brakes until near 1st gear. As Bud states, use your engine to slow down.

Kevlar Brake Pads
You guys kill me!!! Funny thing - I get crap for mileage outa rear brake pads on both my Nomad & the 800 Drifter? Maybe 15000 km. Now the thing is I use the fronts , alot and used to get around 30000 - 35000 km outa all of my Ventures? And all brakes were worn pretty much even. And yes, Ventures had linked brakes except one front was not so I used it enough to wear it down as with others. Damn fronts however are over 43000 km and barely show any wear?
