1500 Seat

Is there any difference in a 1500 classic seat and the Nomad seat? The mounts look the same.

The Nomad seat is a little better quality. Better foam, firmer, cut different, etc, for longer riding comfort. How I now this is that once I had an 01 1500 Classic and Liz bought her 04 1500 Nomad and we compaired them a lot. That is what convinced me to move up to the 05 Nomad when I was ready to trade.

I saw some new ones for a classic on Ebay real cheap. They look the same as the Nomad. Mine has a small worn through spot on the front edge so I thought if I could get a cheap deal I would just replace it. My Nomad seat is comfortable to me but I haven't ridden on anything else. I can't make myself spend what a Mustang seat cost. I may just recover mine one day.

The mounts for a 1500 Classic and 1600 Nomad are not the same. The Nomad seat has the screw in the back, the 1500 Classic seats have their mounts on the sides:

You can get the replacement OEM leather for the stock set for about $150, maybe less if you shop around.

You could have just bought a better seat for your classic and saved a bunch of money!

I know, you said you were ready to trade, I just couldn't let that go.

Mine is a 1500 Nomad (2000) they look the same to me. The 1600 is different.

Zoom they are the same frame so the seats mount the same. The nomad seat is much better quality from the factory though. if you get a classic seat you may wanna look at http://greatdaytoride.com and see about an upgrade in ride quality. I've not had him do my nomad seat yet but I've had him do every other bike's seat I've ever owned and when he's done the ride quality is like night and day.
