Barrett Jackson Auto Auction

I noticed that starting tomorrow the Barrett Jackson auto auction is back again on tv. Its one of the programs I enjoy watching and can sit there for hours watching the old cars roll across the block.
This year they have Buddy Holly's 57 chevy and the Batcycle up for grabs. I wonder what that Ron Pratt fella is going to go home with this year, he's been one of Barretts best customers for a few years now.

Two things amaze me about that show. The money people have to spend on pony cars, and how stupid I was to just about give away a couple. I should have just parked them for future restoration.

Yep, it's one week of TV I look forward to every year. Even though it's only 25 miles away in Scottsdale, I have never been to it. I rode past Westworld (where the auction is held) last week on the 101 freeway and saw all the tents set up. You wouldn't believe the size of this thing. It is absolutely enormous!

I love watching all the muscle cars roll across the block and I kick myself for selling my 1965 GTO and my 1964 Impala SS I had as a youngster.

CNC and Cactus Jack, if only we had know then what we know now. I purchased a 1970 specially built GTO for $3150 new off the lot. Most GTO's had a four speed but mine was a three speed on the floor. If I couldn't get you by the time I got out of second gear I wasn't going to get you. Never found anyone that could beat me. Didn't take me long to figure out that tires don't grow on trees. Well actually they sort of do, but you have to pay for them.

I'll be watching as much of it as I'm able to. I love seeing all the muscle and specialty cars they auction off.

Ron Pratt is in the home building industry. With the housing slump, he may not be the big buyer as he has in the past. Guess we will see how deep his pockets are. ;)

Even though some of the cars go for high prices, you also see some of them go for a lot less than you know the builder put into them.

I'll have to learn how to set my old vcr again so I can catch the Tues- Fri. programs.
I think youll see the values drop from what they were on some of the real high end cars, I think they peaked a couple years ago.

Lots of really nice Z28's and Chevelles went across the block tonight. I remember when I first started driving you could buy these things used for a song. I paid $350 for my GTO with a 389 and tri-power.

The sticker price of my loaded 1970 Mustang Mach I was $4,700. At that time, a new vet was between $8,000 - $10,000. I kept the Mustang for 3 years and traded it for a new pickup. ???
