Worn out Kickstand

I was cleaning my bike up and noticed the kickstand is sagging down a bit. I thought the spring had lost it's tension. Found out the bolt that holds it on has a groove worn in it and gives it slop in the bracket. I guess it's time. It must have been up and down a million times. This may be something you want to check on yours. Mines a 1500 not sure if a 1600 is made the same way. I guess it needs a new bolt but it looks like you could install some thin washers on each side to take up the slack. There's room for it and this would tighten it up.

I posted about this last summer. My kickstand spring fell off in the garage. I had to go to an auto parts store and buy a new spring to replace it. Luckilly it worked.

The 1600 uses a double spring to hold up the kickstand, don't know why because the single that I installed works just fine. The stiff double spring wears a groove into the stud that holds the spring and pretty soon it just falls off.

Boy oh boy I sure am glad I got that jack-stand adapter from that guy in Idaho, 'cause if my kickstand ever breaks (not just the spring) I'll have a Plan B. lol

Some good advice and something to be alert to. Idaho I remember when you posted about your spring problem and you solution. I will have to get under mine tomorrow since it is supposed to be a beautiful day and check it out.

That was a good thread Idaho. My kickstand was slow and was catching when I tried to put it down. Taking it apart was much like being married to that harridan wife of mine.

Anyway, after I cleaned it up and lubed the heck out of it I need only to tap it with my wittle toe and she works like a charm.
