Things a Nomad can do, but some might not know

Trip's thread about being able to turn the ignition off and on with out using the key each time (turn it back just short of all the way off) and many of us not knowing about it, made me wonder what else there might be in the collective consciousness of Kawanow?

Even if it's an easy one that you think EVERYONE knows, post it. We didn't all know about the one Trip posted.

Here's the easiest one that probably everyone knows about; the adjustable levers. I keep the brake lever at the closest position to the grip. I think the clutch is somewhere in the middle.

It probably only takes once to figure out that the bike dies if you try to take off with the kickstand down.

What else does a Nomad do that someone might not know?

The bike will not restart if layed down without turning the key off then back on. Don't ask.

The bike cannot be picked up by a mere mortal after it is layed down.It takes magic and mirrors or a very petite lady in a short skirt.

I like the part about the lady with a short skirt.

#1 - Upside - there are two accessory hot points under the seat and one under the tank and one in the headlight available to wire to.

Downside - all are ALWAYS on, I had a heck of a time finding an accessory driven power to splice to for the audio system. Finally found one in the headlight in a 4x bunch of male/female connectors - blue stripe over grey if I remember correctly

#2 - The oil screen 'accessory' - probably a good idea to clean that out with each oil change

The following item can be done on just about any motorcycle, but on the Nomad, it's super easy.

If there is "play" in the throttle, you can adjust the play away by adjusting the screws right below the handlebars forward of the throttle grip. Just loosen the tightening nuts, adjust the play out, then tighten the nuts.

when laid down it cuts off the feul to the bike so you have to sit it back up for a while before it will actually start sometimes a minute.

You can fix saddlebags. See duct tape thread. Then you'd fit right in down in Ol Mexico.

It has a park light, lights up the rear tail light only. I've only ever used it once, there is only so long you could leave it on without the battery going down.

I left it in a spot that would be easy to not see it if you weren't paying attention, I left the park light on to get cars attention. But only did it for 15 min or so.

Haven't found it to be all that useful.
