Idaho Jack Adaptor

My wife bought me a Red Craftsman motorcycle jack for Christmas. It looks pretty good but it is still in the box. Several buddies of mine say I should return it to Sears and get the Yellow one since it is a little more heavy duty and sturdies the bike better. My questions is whether the Idaho Jack Adaptors work on the heavy duty Yellow Craftsman motorcyle jack just as well as they do on the Red one. Anyone have an experience with them?

The "yellow" colored Craftsman jack is made out of aluminum, and the "red" one is made out of steel. Both are rated at 1500 lbs. The "yellow" one is 3 1/2" tall when fully collapsed, where the "red" one is 5" tall when fully collapsed. I have the "red" one and am VERY happy with it. When you lift the bike and then set it down into one of the safety locks, it's as solid as a rock.

The Idaho jack adapter should work with any jack, it just provides a flat, stable surface that sits on the lifting arms of the jack.

I have the Yellow Sears jack and use it with the Idaho Jack. It works just fine. The only thing I would like is to have four swivel wheels on the jack. The two front wheels are fixed and I find this to be a "PITA" to move around with the bike on it.

I have the Harbor freight jack and it has 4 wheels, 2 set straight, and can lock to the floor by 2 dragging bolts.. I have no idea how high it is collapsed, but it ain't no 5 inches then...

I made a sort of ramp, but no a real ramp, as this is a 7/8" board long enough to ride up on, and the middle section comes out, leaving plenty if room to add the adapter and slip the jack in under the bike. I also use a small hunk of 2x4 for under the side stand.

The adapter makes the bike rock solid, but i still get nervouse...

i will still lock and block what ever wheel isn't coming off, before i remove one that is.

I am not in the habit of leaving one wheel on the deck either.

Also the way I work I wouldn't use a jack at all to change engine oil. That just makes for more work the way i do things.

I have a Yellow jack from Tractor Supply. It looks just like any other red or yellow jack I have seen. Idaho's adapter works fine with mine. I think they are all made by the same company only painted different.
Your opinion may vary.

I'm planning on buying the yellow aluminun sears jack. I like the low profile, but also I like the much more favorable reviews it gets on the Sears site. Also, notice that it costs a lot more.

Thanks for all the comments. I'm taking the red one back, getting the yellow one and ordering the Idaho Jacks next paycheck.

Just found this thread. Thanks for all of the support for the adapter. As you all have noted it will work with any conventional mc jack.

As to the color of them, I never know what it will be. It is more cost effective to just let the shop coat them with whatever powdercoat color they are running at the time.

Makes me feel good to know that I have been able to solve a common problem.
