Interested in a ride out west next spring, anyone?

Hi, I am in Florida. I am 60 years old and in my first year of retirement. I have a dream trip I'd like to make. I am wondering if there are any others who have something like this on their bucket list?
I want to go out west next spring. I would like to ride the Gulf Coast, then west through the Texas hill country, then along Rio Grand and up into the Southern Rockies. Spend some time there in the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Arches, and Canyonlands areas of NM, AZ & UT. Maybe ever grab a day or two in Vegas. Then I would also like to ride the west coast hiway from Southern Cal to the Canadian border. And I would like to cross back east from Washington state to Yellowstone area then work way back down Rockies before heading back east.
Like I said, it's a dream trip. I'd like to find some others who'd be interested in something like this, Anyone???

Let us know your route and some of us will ride with you as you go through...maybe have a meal or two as well. Sounds like a blast.

Wil do. Will see if I can get a couple long haulers to do all or most of the ride and then will see if we can catch a "local" periodically for some insight to their home areas.

I'd love to go, but I don't retire for maybe another 20 years.

I do have a 6-week sabbatical coming up in about 18 months and I've been thinking about a tour around the west.

So here's my plan so far; I am starting the list of people who might like to do some or all of the ride. After the first of the year I will form a more concrete plan and then post it and PM to those who expresed interest! So keep responding!!!

Trosco think about timing your ride to attend the SW Rally in Cortez Colorado next June. Great riding to and from and lots of Super people at the Rally. Hoping to see you there.

Like shoeney, ...if you're going to get up to the Pacific North West,{ being WA and into Canada,} I'm pretty much on the border of WA.. I'd like to meet up with you and ride along for a ways. Maybe it'll get netnorski, schoeney, and the rest of the Northwest Grp. up this way as well. Sounds like fun. Keep me posted on your plan.

Keep us all posted on your timeline. I'd like to meet up with you maybe on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and ride across southern Louisiana with you. I do know where there are restaurants with great cajun meals.

I am in NewMexico today, been scouting the UT-AZ-NM-CO area for part of the trip while on vac with the wife.
FABULOUS area and will defineltly be on the trip!

Trosco, I'm here in SoCal and have ridden plenty of non-freeway roads around here that allow you to ride more interesting and enjoyable roads (and safer!) compared slabbing along the California freeways. Did the ride out to Grand Canyon earlier this year too, and even heading out that way there are some off-freeway options here and there to make it more interesting.

This summer I rode 4500 miles up through Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Alberta, BC, Washington, Oregon and back to Cali... saw all a lot of parks and sites along the way. Could give you a few tips in some of those places (No 1 tip.. carry Frog Toggs !).

Keep your route thoughts and plans posted, sure you'll get lots of comments from others. We'll all be envious.

Put me on your list and be sure and PM me. I retired January 1, 2009. Wife doesn't ride but that doesn't stop me from riding. Sounds like a wonderful trip. I might not make the complete trip but would probably ride as far as central Texas so I could visit my daughter.
