Trailer Rehab Project

As if I don't have enough going on to fill every waking moment, I have a winter project to rehab an unknown make/model motorcycle cargo trailer. Friend at work bought it at an estate sale for $125 a year ago, and after deciding it could be salvaged, I gave him what he paid for it.
I'm working out my path forward, but the first step will be to replace the wheel bearings and mount some new tires so I can move it around on it's own recognizance instead of riding on my utility trailer; then:

The bumpers and trim will be coming off-
- new rear bumper leaving the front tubing trim off.
- remove wood trim on top (may not be replaced with same)
Minor fiberglass repairs and paint to match Lucille's Candy Cardinal Red.
Sandblast and re-paint the frame.
Re-wire electrical replacing ancient stuff with LEDs all around
Determine in I can move up to 12" wheels/tires

The license plates expired in '94 so it has been sitting for quite a while. I will be checking with the Delphi MC Trailer towing forum hoping somebody can help me ID the make & vintage. If anybody has clues to answer those questions, let me know.

That looks like a good project for the winter. Id also try to see if you could mount the spare tire somewhere underneath where its out of sight. Its an item that is rarely required most times, and would look cleaner when its all painted. The rear bumber looks like its similar to the old Gold Wing style, with some new lights that trailer seems to have a lot of potential to look really good once again.

Looks like a fun project, Larry. That's the kind of stuff I like to do. Please keep us posted with your progress.

I think Charlton Heston used that in his movie Ben Hur.

My Gosh LW... that thing is huge!!! You could hide a dead body in that thing.

You could open up the top and put a rumble-seat in it for your kids to ride in... kind of like a side car, only from behind.

Just kidding... I am sure it will look great when you get it done.

PS: looks like there is a lot of clearance for the larger tires.

Yep, it's almost casket-sized. The box is 6' end to end.

I think it will accommodate 12" wheels, even if I have to relocate the fenders or buy some new fenders or both.

Hey that looks like the trailer that Wompus pulls behind his Nomad.
I didn't think there was any of them around anymore.

With one flat tire it was difficult to judge while rolling it up onto my utility trailer. It has a little heft to it, but I havent put it on the scale yet. Will have to hook up with DOT enforcement offficer friend and find out exactly how much it weighs.

I'm sure LW can handle it. He's big enough to hunt bear with a stick.
