New KawaNOW Staff member....CTC
You probably have noticed that I started a Trip/Travel board here on KawaNOW several weeks ago. It was started for the purpose of documenting and archiving all types of travel and trip information.
Spring is just around the corner and many of us (if we haven't already) will be planning our trips to take on our steeds for the Spring, Summer and Fall. One of the main reasons why I bought a Nomad was to travel and see the USA. I enjoy seeing every inch of the US on a motorcycle. I know that there are quite a few of you that enjoy traveling also. That's why I created the Trip/Travel board....to give us an avenue to share travel and trip information. It is for this reason that I asked Chuck "txcwdancer" Birt to be the KawaNOW Chief Trip/Travel Consultant (CTC). I've known Chuck for three years and find him to be a serious, consciencious man when it comes to traveling on his motorcycle. I know of noone that travels and put more miles on a Nomad than Chuck. Chuck put over 100,000 miles on his 2000 Nomad and has just bought a 2008 to start the traveling all over again. Here's some stats on Chuck's travels: Riding Milestones Longest Day Ride 2005 - 1710 miles Round Rock TX to Pocatello Idaho -- 28 hours straight through Longest Tour 2007 - 8925 miles 18 days Texas to Grand Lake Co, North to Anchorage, Alaska down to Idaho then back to Texas 2nd Longest Tour 2006 - 6100 miles 13 days Texas to Indiana, thru Ohio across top of Michigan, Wisconsin, North Dakota on to Idaho back to Custer,SD and Texas 3rd Longest Tour 2005- 4500 miles 10 days Round Rock TX to West Yellowstone MT & Kanab UT back to Texas Average Daily Commute - 40 miles round trip Average Daily Mileage - 65-100 depending upon errands Miles Ridden in 2004 - 20,050 (Apr-Dec) Miles Ridden in 2005 - 25,850 Miles Ridden in 2006 - 29,432 Miles Ridden in 2007 - 24,646 As of 12-12-07 Chuck is an EMT by trade and is a member of the PGR. His main purpose as the CTC will be to help and answer any questions concerning traveling on a motorcycle. He'll also be responsible for helping KawaNOW members with their trip questions and he'll be the moderator for the Trip/Travel board. I know there are many KawaNOW members that put alot of miles on their bikes each year. And even though many of us have a good bit of experience in traveling, sometimes it's good to bounce any questions or ideas off someone that has the same type of experience. Feel free to ask Chuck for any advice concerning trips or travel. Join me in welcoming Chuck "txcwdancer" Birt as the new KawaNOW Chief Trip/Travel Consultant. Trip

Chuck, Congrats, says a lot that Trip would place this honor on you. With the last few additions, the quality of the staff is really increasing, of course, look what he started with... I hear one of them doesn't even have a Nomad now.
Do you travel with a laptop so you can keep up with this new responsibility? |

My hat is off to Chuck. I have the same question as Ells. With Chuck's seat in the saddle for so much riding are we going to have to be patient to get a reply? It will be handy to devise a way to let us know "Chuck is In". Ride on brother.
