Hot Bike Baggers

So I received the January 2010 (geez, a little early maybe?) issue of Hot Bike Baggers. The first letter to the editor caught my eye. The letter was written by a true a**hole, but the reply from the Editor was excellent.

"Vulcan Vulgarities"

Guys,

I just wanted to send this email to say thank you for such a great magazine, but why did you do a section on the 09 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT? It's nothing more than a rice burner attempt at a H-D Heritage Softail. I own a '08 Heritage Softail and wouldn't give it up for nothin'! Shame on you Kawasaki. Shame, shame, shame! Other than that, keep up the good work!

Jammer

The response from the Editor:

Jammer,
We are a Custom Touring Magazine and we feel it is our duty to show the newest crop of touring bikes no matter where on the planet they are built. We also like the fact that Kawasaki is on track with a viable motorcycle that many of our readers may think about purchasing in the near future.

And lastly, my thoughts...

I think "Jammer" should jam that prized '08 Heritage where the sun don't shine!

Very good response to a knucklehead that gives a bad image to many undeserving HD riders. Shame on Jammer for his unwarranted comments about a very dependable and solid bike. My son owns a 900 Classic LT and wouldn't trade it for any Heritage Soft Tail.

Kawasaki, Harley, Ford, Chevy, I don't give a rip. I like my bike and that is all that counts.

Frankly, I was surprised by the editor's response. That was a pretty stand-up reply to a very ignorant question from a H-D knuckle dragger.

Not particularly brand concious, and I've never been able to eat or drive status. But I am fully aware of my wallet , and I'll say it again. I have one Nomad, very nicely equiped, one Sabre, also very nice, and a great toyhauler to carry both bikes anywhere I want to go and live comfortably when I get there.

AND........all for less than than the price of ONE USED Harley. It just never made sense to me. ??? ???

I just love A Holes HD Riders who think that they are better then everone else because the ride a HD... I heard a similar comment like the on TV from the owner of Custom Shop.. If a brand of bike is what it takes to make you feel like Yo Da Man DUDE get a life!!! I ride what I want and like all brands of Motorcycles and IMO people who ride Rice Burners make you feel welcome (more so) no matter what you ride! BUT most of the HD riders I meet and ride with are GOOD people....and just LOVE to ride.........

Cj, I wonder if "Jammer" got the paint shaker, or corn combine add on for his HD?

I could have bought a HD if I wanted one when I bought the 06 Nomad. I just got enough to fix as it is, and would rather ride than fix....

Each summer I fox a lot of HD's on the road side. I just don't need to do that on my own bike.

Other than a bashed ft fender there is nothing I need to fix, and I haven't needed to fix one bloomin thing on my 06 yet.

Mods and wear and tear don't count...

I think I mentioned this before, but I'll say it again..... that a friend at work went out with 8 other HD riders, for a ride one weekend. All...yes all of them broke down in one form or another.
{ nine out of nine }...bolts backing out, pieces falling off, you name it. One was just unfortunate and hit some light gravel in a corner and laid it down. ..... also... something to remember the next time you're chatting with some hard core HD types. ,....remind them that 95 % of all the Harley's built in the last 20 yrs. are still on the road today. .....they'll be impressed.....then tell them that the other 5% made it back home. ;)

Good one Rickyboy.

I carry tools all the time on my bike. Not for my bike..........for the Harleys I ride with.

CJ you just have to take it for what it is, it was written by another BRAIN WASHED Harley rider. Just let it go and enjoy the fact the mag stood up to him.

Yah gotta love dem Harley guys!!! I was at a Swap Meet last weekend and the majority of the people there where Harley folk. Not that that is a problem, I like bikes - there I said it! I likes them all, that's why I got 11 - if I could get more in the yard I probably would! Anywho, for some reason I look more like a Harley Guy than most Harley guys and I constantly get the " well. at least you know the difference between a real bike ( Harley) and that Jap crap!" speel! I just grin and smile!!! What they don't know ain't gonna hurt them! I got some Harley stuff on the Nomad / I got some Suzuki stuff and even a Honda part, so what? You just got to let them spout off and just walk away knowing most of them haven't got a clue! Yes they are all individuals who are all not at all controlled by a Major Company who sells a "Life style"!
