NEW RIDER AT LAST!!!!!!

A while ago there was a thread going about how many of us had wives or girlfriends that rode with us.

For many of us our wives didn't ride and I was one of them. The operative word in the last sentence is was!

I've been riding for nearly 50 years and we've been married for the last 42 of those. Suzanne has always been deathly afraid of motorcycles and would not even sit on one. However, she never kept my from riding or from taking our children on rides with me.

Well, about three weeks ago, right out of the blue she says to me, "I want to ride over to the lake with you on the bike." I was absolutely stunned! I have never pressured her to ride with me so I was not expecting such a development.

It's only about 7 miles over to the lake. We mounted up and I rode the most careful ride I have ever ridden in my life. When we got home she said that she really enjoyed it and wants to ride more! We've taken a few more short rides since then. She even asks if we can go for a ride! I've got her gear on the way and then we're going to start taking some longer rides.

I can't describe how it feels to have the love of my life and my best friend sharing the enjoyment of riding with me.

NEW RIDER AT LAST!!!!!!

Yellow Jacket,

It is very nice to have the one you love on the back of the mistress. I was worried the wife didn't want to ride when I started. She went on some trips but never really said much unless I was going to fast for her. Then one day we went up to the mountains for a weekend. She was talking away on the communicator until we hit the curvies. Then it was silience. I was afraid she was scared. Stopped and the first words out of her mouth were "WOW!!! I can't believe I was missing all of this in a car." Enough said. She was hooked.

NEW RIDER AT LAST!!!!!!

Did the same 4 years ago finally got mine on the back 8 months later she asked if she could get her own so bought a Kawasaki 250 cruiser for her to learn on then 12 months later she wanted an upgrade so we went 750 Honda Shadow 12months latter she wanted a bit bigger now she owns a 1600 classic and loves it. It is so much easier when she is the one prompting to get out for weekend rides she is as hooked as I am with riding. In the last 3 years we have undertaken 4 major rides of around 8,000K here in Oz being away on the bikes for up to 4 weeks together is the best feeling in the world and a great marriage booster just you and the wife cruising the highways there is nothing better.
Next March we have planned a trip from Melbourne to Perth
That is east to west across the whole country we plan to be away for up to 5 weeks.

Congratulations! It's wonderful when you can take her along, and enjoy the freedom together. I hope mine will get back on for longer rides soon, she will take short rides some, out to eat and to visit friends that are close by.

NEW RIDER AT LAST!!!!!!

Bob, I am very happy for you. I saw the new picture on another thread the other day and asked who the rider was. I never went back to the thread so don't know if you answered or not. I got my answer and it is exactly who I thought it was. I am just tickled for you and your lovely wife.

That is fantastic Bob. I am really happy for you (and your wife, as now she knows what she has been missing).

Keep her comfortable and travel to interesting places... and you'll likely be riding two-up most all the time from now on.
