Goat Bladder Question?

Can someone Give me there opinion on how loud the bike gets after you gut the goat bladder? I already debaffled the pipes and I would like to go a little louder, Will I get louder if I gut the bladder?or is it not worth the effort? Is there a thread I can go to to compare Debbaffled, gutted Bladder, or any other exhaust mod, I would like to start working on the bladder this week so your opinions are appreciated :-/

Goat Bladder Question?

I dont know about any threads, but I have heard one in person. It will make it noticebly louder, but will still not be near as good as having V&H or cobras, etc.

Goat Bladder Question?

Way back when, I gutted my goat's bladder before I did the de-baffle, and it Didn't change the sound one bit. Then a week or two later, I did the de-baffle, sounded much better, but still wasn't the sound I was looking for, So I don't know if the sound will change or not since I did mine in the reverse of what your doing. I ended up getting the V & H baggers, and I still kept playing with the sound. 4 years later, DK & I came up with a baffle (Ultimate-Baffle) and we really liked it. Still tinkering with the sound though, But we're on the right track.

Goat Bladder Question?

I started by de-baffling the stock pipes and adding Valkyrie exhaust tips. This gave a bit more rumble so that the Nomad didn't sound like a sewing machine anymore. I considered gutting the goat, but on my early model 99, there really isn't anything in there to gut. Then I happened upon a Dutch Bypass, which allowed me to remove the goat, so the pipes run straight through from the header to the exhaust. Perfect! This was exactly the sound I was looking for. The operative word being "I". Exhaust note and sound is extremely subjective. I wanted it to sound beefy, like a V-Twin cruiser should, but not be too loud, as I find that annoying. I understand the Dutch Bypass is difficult to locate these days, but I still maintain one should be able to fabricate one fairly easily.

Goat Bladder Question?

I checked the European website that sold the Dutch Bypass. They are sold out and have discontinued making the bypass.

Goat Bladder Question?

last i knew that by pass was 300 bucks, and V&H were just under 5... i hate dropping dimes as much if not more than most guys, but i bite the bullet on V&H twice... Once on the lost 01 1500, and again with out hesitation of the 1600 06....

If it comes to pass inspection I can swap off the OEM set and 1 day after put the V&H back on...

Goat Bladder Question?

And I have to tell you Mac, that I would NEVER have paid $300 for it. I got it from a guy who bought it for his Nomad, not knowing that the inlets and outlets to the goat are different diameters on the newer Nomads, but all four are the same on my 99. I picked it up for $110.
I was considering ways to fabricate one without altering the stock pipes when I stumbled on this bypass.
And, like you, I can get the exhaust back to stock in no time at all. Kept the goat and have a stock set of mufflers in the shed. You never know.

Goat Bladder Question?

At the time the Caddman came up with the kit parts, having the bike able to back to all OEm was the real meaning of doing the Caddman.. It wasn't just the intake, but to be able to go right back to all OEM in very little time, for the cost of 2 exhaist gaskets..

Well 4 exhaust gaskets, and because the day after you went back to OEM, you wnet back to what you had...

Now this is just me... I don't judge guys for what they do and how they do it.

There is no mid point with oem exhaist that is going to get a clean air flow by modding the mufflers and or the goat and or both... Ain't happenin...

V&H baggers are the best bang for the buck, RH is the prettiest, and I don't like Hard Crome for the LOUD Straight pipe noise, nor Cobra chrome.

So far any Cobra chrome I ever saw it was risted up bad... maybe the owners didn't care for all I know, but I also don't spend much time cleaning my bike in season.

I do the main, and do it on time or ahead of time, but I hardley ever clean the bike, till late fall.

I can't ride my bike clean, not ever not once, because it get sandy in the 1/2 mile driveway.

I did give some though and got permission to build a box in a neighbors yard, where I could store cleaning items, but didn't get into it that much..

So what my bike has yellow pollens and sand all over the place... it runs like a champ, and it will in 30 years if I and it are a thing then... Mostly likey I won't last 30 more years myself... But there is no reason a Nomad can't..

Goat Bladder Question?

I have an '05 1600. I first added the Valkyrie tips on the exhaust and got a slight rumble out of them. This past weekend I took out the baffles and, man, what a difference! I love the way it sounds now! I think the Valkyrie tips make a difference in allowing the exhaust to echo a bit before exiting. My bike now has a nice deep rumble to it, but it is not too loud to give me a headache on longer rides. I'm very pleased with the way it is now and I did for less than $50. That includes buying a drill, holesaw, and WD-40.

The Valkyrie tips cost me about $50 w/shipping on EBay. I would definitely recommend adding these to any bike. Not only do they help the sound, but it gives the bike a much better look. They add about 5 or 6 inches to the rear of the bike. I like being able to see these 2 fat exhaust tips sticking out from the rear of the bike.
