If you can't and you really need more capacity you could try this.

I remember seeing that article also somewhere Wolfman, but I cant remember where. It could have been on VROC or Delphi, and it was probably about a year or so ago.

http://gmanindustries.com makes a 2 gallon fuel cell for Vulcan 1500 Classic carburetted model, but it mounts in front of the rear tire and you would have to run both exhaust pipes on the right side of the bike. I am sure you can adapt it for FI models, but getting over the exhaust pipe issue is the biggest obstacle. The way that I understand that it works is that you put about 1/2 gallon in your tank, engage the fuel transfer pump and fill your main tank, when the auxiliary tank is full you shut off the transfer pump and top off your main tank. Because of its location the additional weight is very low on your bike. As you continue to ride and drain off the auxiliary tank, having your petc0ck set to "on" allows it to keep the auxiliary tank full. When the auxiliary tank is empty, set the petc0ck to "reserve" and turn the fuel transfer pump on until your bike runs smoothly and then turn it off. Gravity will drain the remaining fuel into the auxiliary tank.

There is a company that manufacturers 5 gallon tanks that I ran across searching the internet. I can't remember the name of the site. I will try to find it and post it here.

Here is the info from the guy I know who put a larger tank on his 99 Nomad. It's a company out of California. He said he couldn't find a website for them and the last time he checked, they were $1,000. Here is the info he did find.
Fat Tanks at 700 E. Taft Avenue #11, Orange, CA 92865 (714) 282-9175 or call Dale toll-free at 1-(800) 582-2274
