"Dead hand" syndrome...???
Is it riding position? wrist angle? gloves too tight? or ??? But within 10-15 minutes, my hands are going numb. What gives? I've tried adjusting my riding position; helped for a little while. Also tried wrist position; gave some relief. Tried without gloves too.
Can it be all the vibration in the handlebars as well??? Help!!! Daryl ??? Login or Register to Remove Ads |

"Dead hand" syndrome...???
I've run into that quite a bit with different bikes. Try getting a crampbuster. Its a plastic thingy that fits over your throttle and your wrist resting on the tang holds the throttle open. Every now and then I extend my hands out over the brake and clutch levers and that brings relief. I think it is a combination of wrist angle and constant tension holding the throttle open. Hope this helps.

"Dead hand" syndrome...???
Had a similar experience with my '01 Concours. At 4000 rpm it had a "buzz" or vibration in the bars and my hands would either fall a sleep or hurt like hell. I installed a vista cruise on it and on my ZRX so that I can lock it and take my right hand off for a while. I have even tried different grips, some work better than others, but don't get completely rid of it.
I would say start with some sort of cruise control and go from there. Bill |

"Dead hand" syndrome...???
For me it was fixed by having Carpal Tunnel release surgery on both hands. :/

"Dead hand" syndrome...???
It could probably be a hundred different things from a pinched nerve somewhere or tensening your arms or shoulders too much. I've never had my hands go numb but I used to get an ache from my wrist to my elbow in my right arm and my friend told me to make a conscious effort to relax your hands. Don't need a tight grip. Even if you don't have a cruise control you can still hold the throttle with your palm open. That helped me. If you have a habit of "gorrilla gripping" you'll have to constantly remind yourself to relax your hands or you'll do it without realizing it.

"Dead hand" syndrome...???
On my Intruder, I added a Vista Cruise throttle lock, and installed Harley FLST Heritage handle bars. Worked GREAT!!!
The Vista Cruise won't fit the Iso-Grips on the Nomad though, so I'm looking for a throttle lock which will. Preferably one that doesn't cost $200.00!!!! Heheheh! |

"Dead hand" syndrome...???
All good info from the rest ,1 more thing is handlebar angle! Sometime just changing the angle a small amount can change the angle to relieve the tension on your wrists......Rich

"Dead hand" syndrome...???
My hands are ok, the problem are my shoulders and tennis elbow. All though its not from riding its from working. I told the Dr. I don't play tennis, he said its from fishing. No F**kin way.

"Dead hand" syndrome...???
My little Yamaha 650 used to cause me grief in my wrists. I adjusted the angle of my handlebars as Radco recommended above. Ponch also recommended the Bar Snake which is supposed to dampen vibration. Being cheap, I bought one foot of 3/4 inch (outside diameter) clear plastic tubing at the hardware store, cut it in half, and then filled each half with pellets that I emptied out of some shotgun shells, plugged the ends and inserted these in the ends of the bars. I also bought a wrist brace from the drugstore that seemed to help.
![]() The last thing I purchased for hand/wrist comfort was Iso Grips. Fortunately my Nomad has far less vibration than my 650 and I've not had the same problems.

"Dead hand" syndrome...???
FYI: The vista cruise WILL fit Iso grips with just a little modification(enlarging ring to slip over grips). My brother installed it on his '06 nad w/iso grips works well. i personally have the flip-a-lever cuise control and I like it too.

"Dead hand" syndrome...???
I have a pinched nerve in my neck that caused both hands to go dead and in excruciating pain. Flip-a-lever is the only cure I have other than surgery.. With it, I thumb it on, rest my right hand and them back to riding as needed.
Something you might want to consider. Ride safe, Dano |
