Tire Pressures for D404

I was looking around on the internet for an answer, and was not satisfied with what I found.

What would be the appropriate pressure for my Dunlop D404s?
I know the manual says 32 front and 40 rear, and had D404s listed on the sticker at that pressure. That is what I normally run.

My question: Is that the best pressure to run, or should I be doing something more? The Dunlop site indicated (generically, for cruisers in general) that if you have more than 200 pounds of people/cargo, you should put 36 in the front.

I just want to check with you guys, cause I trust your input. Thanks

I always run 40 rear 32 front. I usually get 11,000 out of a rear and 18,000 on the front. I do a lot of double up riding and pull a trailer.

40# FRT & 40/41# RR

Rode the front stock Bridgestone over 19,000 miles before it started to dry out and crack. My mileage is about 50% two up; passenger load is approximately 400 lbs. Most roads I ride are seal coated, chipped asphalt.

I have no idea how you guys can get these miles out of the brickstone. My rear was dead at 7,000, and I rode it out to 9,000. The ft was dead at at 11,000, and I think I ride like grannies would want me too 98%.

My Dunlops usually just wear in the center and hardly any on the sides. Most of my riding is interstate. Very few twisty roads.

Tire Pressures for D404

I have just purchased a pair of D404's for my 2001. I took the advise of many on here and ran 40 in the front and 42 in the rear. I rode through the Catskills and Finger Lakes twisties with great handling and great gas mileage. As for how long the tires will last, it is too early to tell. I rode 1-up.

42 front, 48 rear. Brian has run Dunlops for years and consistently gets over 18,000 miles on the rear and more on the front.

What benefits are you finding by running the higher pressures? (i.e. 40-42F and 42+ on rear)
Is the ride rougher?

Just put a D404 on the front yesterday. Have 40psi in it. That is what the installer said it should run.
He also said the we would install a car tire and has installed a couple in the past.
MotoTire in Phoenix. Good prices also.

We've run the 48 in the rear for years and don't notice the ride being any different, we just get more miles out of the tires.

I get fairly good mileage out of mine (18,000 front, 11,000 rear) but the tires always wear the middle out (no cord showing when I replace them). Seems like I may have too much pressure at 32 front 40 rear with it only wearing the middle of the tread. How do you get 14,000 + out of the rear with even more pressure? Do you run it till the cord is showing?
