hitchbox is done!
well, after changin my plans a bit I decided on the aluminum diamond plate box. they claim it's an ATV tool box, but it's pretty thin.. however perfect for clothes and such for long trips. has a weather tight seal on the lid and a good key latch for lockin it up. I had to remove the side handles because of the clankity clank while in transit but it's fine. My previous box covered my liscense plate and I didn't want to have to deal with the lights and move my plate every time. My tour pak has running brake and turn signals in it so it worked out real well! The box is 32 x 12 x 12. I have 2 15 inch duffle bags that fit end to end perfect for packin up in bags if I wish. box was only like 90 bucks on ebay.

Looks great borto! Nothing better than a hitch box. It's a lot easier than fooling with a trailer.

Between the hitchbox, tour pack, and the saddlebags, you should be ready to ride coast to coast! Looks great!

That looks like a pretty big box... Just might want to really take care that it never gets overly heavy. That might be a combined weight of all the bags, and boxes you got there.
A trailer tends to carry it's own weight, and at the hitch 25 pounds is considered plenty. Just a little caution tossed to the wind.. I can pack a lot of weight into things. I seem to be very good at it, and to the point when moving I can load a pick up truck so tight the ft wheels no longer do much if any steering. So I know i could load your bike to the point you would need drag bars! ![]()

yea, the box is light, only 12 lbs then the H frame under it for the hitch. it's just for clothes and stuff. I carry around some camera gear and a sleep machine so I need a little extra someitmes for the long haul. The 2 cases of beer and 2 bags of ice were in a stationary position.. Just for science!!! worked great for a trip to the outlet mall for stockin up on the kids clothes!!

I have a full rectangle with a center support as well, so it's fully supported. then a bar welded down the center into reciever. you can kinda see it on the bottom or last pic.

The aluminum box is beautiful and looks like it will work real well. I wonder about lights. I can see a couple on the tail trunk. Do they work as tail / brake / directionals?

yes they do metalman. otherwise I'd have to do like zoom and add trailer lights to the box.
