First fatality at ROTT

First night of ROTT here in Austin, TX. a biker with female run into the back of a truck and kills the girl right away and he is listed unknown. Yeah. then a car right behind my house runs head on into a truck and it takes them 4 hrs to clear the debris. i think the driver didnt make it but passenger limped into median and fell down. Bottle of booze was found and they sit it on top of the car. Damn this sucks. :-/ :'(

This stuff happens, and you're right, it sucks! :(

My two sons and I were up on the Cherohala Skyway today in my son's car. We came upon the remains of a bike crash. A sport bike lost it on a right hand declining radius turn. I suspect he was going way to fast. A long skid and scrape marks led right to the guard rail on the left of the road. The front end of the bike was ripped entirely off and was jammed under the guard rail. The rest of the bike, from the engine on back, had bounced clear back across the road into the ditch on the right side of the road. The ambulance had already left so we were spared seeing the body ( I can't imagine he survived that crash ) but the police were still on the scene investigating. What a needless waste.

The size of ROT attendance is unbelieveable. Austin traffic and so many bikes, wrecks are bound to go up that weekend. We can just hope they won't be a fatality.

I rode the Nomad down SH 281 Friday to take my grandson to the ROT Parade. I always enjoy the Parade. Came back early Saturday on I-35.

Bob-I to was up at Cherohala and saw the accident. The rider was still along the guardrail as we passed through and EMS was still there. As I said in a earlier post in the Accident thread, EMS were not scrambling around as I negotiated my way around the wreckage. Judging by the condition of the bike, I would have been very surprised if the rider made it. I have done a search on the internet and can't find anything about it yet. Very scary.
