Fork mounted Fairing (or Frame Mounted)

Hi, am starting the research that will end with my 2007 Nad having a fairing instead of a windshield. I see many different used (ebay items adapted to Nads) fork/handlebar mounted fairings and several different aftermarket fairings also fork/handlebar mounted on bikes pictured in this forum.
First, has anyone ever produced for the Nad or adapted to a Nad a frame mounted fairing? If so could you share source of fairing and describe the effort/cost to get it on?
Second could each of you that believe you made a satisfying transition to a fairing share the source and cost plus describe the effort to adapt/install?
For both types, you don't need to spend a lot of time on the paint part of process for me. My bike's Black/Titanium and I plan a black fairing.
Thanks all and see you in Custer next month!

Fork mounted Fairing (or Frame Mounted)

I have a 2007 Nomad with a Premeux Fairing that I purchased used. I really like it.
I have seen a couple of nomads with a hd road glide frame mounted fairing modified to fit, but I don't know the details. It is much more common to see the batwing fairing on our bikes.
The fairing blocks off much more wind than the windshield did. I have a 10" shield and it is actually lower than the stock windshield was, but I have almost no buffeting.
Good Luck with your fairing.

Tsukayu fairing took less time to mount than it did to take my windshield off because they have a model especially for the Nomad.. I would recommend a better stereo head unit than I got with the fairing, check Crutchfield for a Marine unit it is even cheaper. Fairing is $799 - black matches my 2007 Black so closely you can't tell the difference. Also has enough room above stereo where you can add a bag for sunglasses, etc - many fairings do not. Unit is fiberglass - many are not. Unit is adjustable (4 positions), many others are not. You can add cheaper Harley-clone windshields if you like - many other manufacturers are proprietary.

Check the link - it has all the information. You will have to leave your lowers on so the wind doesn't come up directly into your nose.

Would I do it again? In a heartbeat!.

Premeux fairing are color matched to the bike when you order them new, but I have heard of some fitment issues if you have risers, but they were all dealt with somehow. Premeux also takes Harley accessories (windshields specifically), they are basically a Harley clone.

The other option is with a little time and some work, you can adapt a Harley fairing to the Nomad. I am close to finishing mine, just waiting for the paint now. Here is a link to the process I used:

http://nomad.nmsolutions.ca/hdfairing.php

You can pick up the Harley inner and outer fairing on eBay usually very cheap.

Memphis Shades and Kuryakyn are also making aftermarket batwings. The Kury is expensive, I am on the last leg of adapting the HD and I like it.

I was looking at these the other day, they looked like the same product to me. Kury is probably having them made by MS.

These aren't really a fairing, in the truest sense if the word, they are more like "windshields shaped like a fairing". I believe they are all one piece, with no inner panel for stereo mounting, etc.

Cactus jack, I believe you are correct as far as them being more of a winshield shaped like a fairing.

I to have never seen a frame mounted fairing, but you might be able to fab up some mounts for a Road Glide fairing...maybe

I have no wobbles at any speed.

.....My brother put a Roadglide fairing on his 04 Nomad. It was a lot of work to fit it to the bike and finish it off with gauges and radio etc. If I had mine to do over again, I wouldn't mess around with a Harley batwing. By the time I got it mounted and painted it was more money than I thought it would be. I would definately go with a Premeux or some other bolt on model. But, thats just me! :)

I have only seen one Nomad 1500 model with a Road Glide fairing, wanted to get him to stop but he took the exit onto the highway. They say that the frame mounted fairings are more stable and have to agree with that statement, just look at the new Voyager.
I know it can be done for sure after seeing one, just don't what all it takes to get it done.

You may try asking on some other forums, like Delphi http://forums.delphiforums.com/kawvulcan/messages and http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/forum/
