Need new rear shocks for 1600
I just blew a seal in one shock (148k miles) and I'm looking to find a replacement set and hopefully improve the suspension from stock. Progressive does not list any for the 1600 Nomad but I've read here about others using the Progressives for the 1600 Classic. How well do they work? I'm 200lbs and my passenger is 160 and my touring luggage is about 50lbs.
Are there any other brand of shock available for the 1600? Garry

Check out the Progressive 412 or 440 series. They do not list the Nomad 1600 as a fit, but it takes the same ones as the Classic which is listed.
I have the 412's on my wife's bike and they were a great improvement! http://www.progressivesuspension.com/

How do they ride compared to the stockers, much stiffer over bumps? Garry

I got the 440's from http://www.onestopmoto.com and I have to remove the bags to adjust the preload. The ride is a bit better but I mainly got them to lower the ride. And you have to shim the top of the shocks with three 14mm washers on each side on the Nomad.

gv550, In case you got the shocks you need to make sure you don't bind the shocks. In other words I found out the hard way that three 14mm washers at the top is to tight and gives you a less than perfect ride. There is a fix for it on Gadget's site. And the difference is night and day.
