OK Guys. I need my bike for a cruise with buddys today and I dont want my lights going out again.

Some of you might recall that two weeks ago I replaced my taillight with a 2357LL. Well, I 've only been on the bike 3 times since then and apparrently it blew the fuse.

The dealer installed my cobra aux. lighting on my tail light fuse I didscovered last night. When saw my aux lamps were out I realized so were my brake and rear running.

I replaced the fuse with the spare 10 that they include. Everything works right now But I am worried about it blowing again when I ride.

So here's the Question: Would it be OK to put in a 15 amp fuse?

I know ultimate the best answer is to run aux lighting on its own fuse, but I dont know how or want to deal with that. Do you think the dealer would redo that since they installed it?

putting in a bigger fuse can cause bigger problems. The circuit should be inspected for proper wire size for the load it carries. There may be a poor splice/connection causing high resistance. A larger fuse may cause another part of the circuit to fail. If you can eliminate the aux lighting for the ride today w/o affecting the tail light operation, you then can have the aux circuit evaluated and corrected. Better safe than sorry.

I would not use a bigger fuse under any circumstances. The bike wiring is designed to carry a specific load. Overloading that rating could smoke wiring or other components. If you need to get rolling in a pinch, disconnect the Cobra lights and then wire them differently in the future. And replace the 10a fuse with a 10a fuse.

I agree with the others.Don't overload the circuit with a bigger fuse. D/C the aux lights and contact your dealer and get them hooked up correctly. Nomads have an acc circuit that is on it's own fuse.

Agreed with disabling the aux lights and check it our later, remove bulbs or whatever is easiest.

Thanks a lot. I have disconnected the aux. lights for today. I will be home by dusk anyway. Tomorrow, when the shop is open, I will set up an appointment to try and get them to tap into the accessory fuse. Might have them wire up a lighter connect too so I can charge my phone on the longer trips.

Sam, You did the right thing. Going up with fuses is never a good idea.

Get the passing lamps off the 10 amp circuit! ACC, and really get them off the head lamps circuit.

If you want these to come on with the head lamps they get their own circuit and a tripped with a relay from the head lamp circuit.

That way the head lamps turns them on and off with the start and stop of the engine.

I don't like it that way myself because i prefer to have lights with out running the engine.

There are a lot of ways to wire these passing lamps up, One is with a relay and just low beam trips is, and or just on with High beam.

My way is on any time I want them on, engine or not, hi or low beam or not. Some states don't allow them on with high beam too, but NH is not one of those states.

Running most of these methods runs thru the key switch and if you fry that key switch with no relay in the circuit you will be cryin then!

Since its a Cobra light bar(?) it should have a rocker switch to just turn the spots off. the deal with all the wiring later, as implied by others.
