Windshield

Looks like I may be getting another windshield. I noticed 3 stress cracks in mine today. One is pretty bad. I would think rock would have had to have popped it pretty good but I don't recall that happening.

Anyway, does anyone have a stock shield sitting around in your shop or garage for a 1500 model? If so, send me a PM with details please.

Thanks,
Amy

I haven't had a chance to check on it yet. Just found the stress cracks in mine.

Is there a difference between the shield for the 1500 and 1600? I just put on a Clearview and put the other one in the attic for now.

I will have to check on that. I think the 1600 shield is a little wider. Not sure about the bolt holes. They may line up fine on the 1500.

How do you like the clearview?

Might try Rifle too, they do nice one. Even do the tinting and curve at top. It might be quicker as Clearview sometimes has a waiting list of couple of weeks. Got mine last year, within week of order. Trev

Okay. Got the OEM windshield mounted and took a ride today. It has distortion in the top of it! Uggghhh. This is a shield that comes from Kaw. WTH? Ron Ayers ordered another one today to see if it's any better. I look over the top of the shield and at the top line of it, makes the lines on the road all wavy. Very annoying while riding. Anyone else experience this with the Clearview or the Rifle? Looks like I may be heading their direction if the new one doesn't work better.

Just put a clearview on my 1600 and am very pleased so far. It is a bit wider and I got one about 1inch or so shorter with the recurve at the top. It is also a more substantial material than stock.

What they said Amy.
My clearview has no distortion even with the curved lip at the top. It is made of thicker material also. Just make sure you measure to get one you look over. I got the solar tint. It is just slightly darker than clear.

Does the Clearview windshield use a sub shield like the OEM shields do.

I have slight distortion with my clearview (ordered with the top recurve). I've grown so used to it that I don't even notice it anymore.

The clearview does NOT use a subshield.
