Rain-X on OEM Windshield and Helmet Face Shield

Questions about the use of Rain-X

1. Will it harm the OEM Kawasaki windshield? The bottles I have seen refer to applications to "glass."

2. Do any of you use it on your helmet face shield?

3. Do any of you use something that effectively beads water off your helmet face shield?

Try some All Klear from blacklab industry it works the same but on plastic. If you do a search on the internet you can find it reasonable

I have used Raih-X on my Clearview shield with no ill effects.
Clearview may be a better grade of plastic than the OEM shield I don't know.

I used Rainx on my windsheild and it caused it to have tiny spider cracks all over it. I won't use it anymore on anything but glass.

+ 1

http://blacklabcorp.com/all-kleer/

It was developed for Small Aircraft winshields.

And, like TC said, for what ever reason, Clearview says rain x can be used on their's w/o harm.

I used Rain-X on my full faceshield and shortly afterwards it developed tiny cracks that made it near impossible to see through. New shield, no rain-x, no cracks.

I know the evidence is flimsy but it is what I have.

I've used it on my windshield and my visor and I haven't noticed any "spider cracks" or anything .......but I usually put a coat of car polish/wax on the windshield. It fills the surface ...

Thanks for all of the helpful information. Guess if someone from Rain-X is seeing this thread, here is a new market for R&D.

I used to use Rain-X on my '03 Bandit and never had any problems. I'd wipe the whole front of the bike down with it to get the bugs off. I also used it to clean my full face helmet. It worked like a charm for me, but I guess other materials will have different effects.

RainX says right on their bottle not to use it on plastics. So I don't. I use Pledge, or Plexus, or regular wax. Either way, I still need to clean the bugs off.

It's not the same as the regular Rain-X. . . Rain-X make an aerosol glass cleaner that I used on a regular basis when I lived in the Seattle area. I road in some real down poor rain so needed it. Still no damage to any of the many surfaces that I used it on. I still have some. The weather guessers say rain on Friday. I might have to go for a wet ride just for old times. ;P
