Shock Balancing Kit

I'm trying to find the air shock balancing kit that Gadget refers to on his website, but the places I've looked say it has been discontinued. ??? :'(

Is there a replacement or a site that you guys know of where I can get the balancing kit?

That's correct. Progressive no longer sells that balancing kit. I think someone mentioned using an automotive air shock balancing kit, or I suppose you could make your own.

Just found some kits still available...

http://www.autopartsdealer.com/progr...tent=APD398111

Cost is $21.95 + basic shipping of $9.99 if anyone is interested.

Did you actually check with the vendor to see if they have them in stock?

Look up MSC which is a industry wide on line, and or paper catalog as thick as a old fashioned Bible. They will have fitting and tubings. You will end up buying 10 of each fitting, and a coil of tubing, but it won't really cost all that much.

I used common air car air shock tubing in 1/8th tubing and stepped it down to fit the Progressive fittings which are 1/16th.

If you but a Scharder valve tap, and give it to a machinist, he can make the fittings, which in my opinion should be made blind.

In other words no way to add any air at the fitting. These fitting would screw on the schrader valves and on the side have a 1/8th pipe threaded hole for 1/8th fittings, which terminate in a barbed point, suitable for 1/8th tubing.

Doing a little more work, fabricate a air fitting scharder valve on a custom made mount, and include a gauge.

I would also check with Harley which probably has all these parts less the guages and the custom mount on their rides.

The black cap is the only place to add air on my bike. behind it you can see another black cap somewhat larger. That is the feed for another car shock that is capped off air tight. Not used.

Elsewhere are 'T's' that split of to the other Nomad shock and yet another in line to feed the gauge.

One air inlet does it all.

Cactus, I went through the order process on the website like I was going to order and it never told me that there were not any in stock. It did say it would take 3-4 weeks to ship... maybe that gives them enough time to get all the parts together.

I don't think it would be a difficult task for even someone like me who only has a drill press to count as a "machine". I just ordered a tap from MSCdirect, like macmac suggested. We'll see what I can do from my own garage. ;)
FYI, the thread is a 5/16-32, or if you're convinced it's metric, it would be about M8x.80

Shock Balancing Kit

I had one of the Progressive balance kits on my original shocks for over 2 years. Once I teflon taped all of the connections it worked well. I haven't installed it as of yet on my new shocks.

I recently (Aug) bought one of the Progressive kits on Amazon.com It was $15 plus shipping I think. Don't know if they are still available.

Let me know if you actually receive this kit. I tried buying a kit a couple of months ago and ordered from 3 different vendors and each time they contacted me saying the kits were no longer available.
