Darkside Question
Was thinking of going to the darkside. I saw one ct peeps use was the Continental Vanco 195-65-16. What other tire does anyone use and what size? Does the ct handle the curves as good as a mt?

Darkside Question
I am one of those running the continental 195/65. I have just under 3000 miles on it now. I won't go back. I really like the performance after getting used to the different feel. Now I really don't notice it back there. As far as curves, it will keep up with the mt.

Darkside Question
I'm running a Bridgestone Turanza 195/60-16. It has just under 10K miles on it and is getting to the point that I will need to replace it soon. I will use a Continental Vanco 195/65-16 to get the speedometer more accurate. The bike handles as well, if not better than with the motorcycle tire.

Darkside Question
I'm running the Continental Vanco 8 in 185/75/16.
Personally I like the taller tire. My first was a 60 series and in my OPINION the 75 series feels better, seems to handle better also. MT

Darkside Question
You guys who have premature wearout of the CT's.....are they worn more in the center? If so, it sounds like you may be running the pressure to high. I run between 26 and 28 psig with the tire wearing evenly. I have 9,000 miles on my SP 5000 and should be able to go another 8,000 miles before replacement. I didn't notice the difference in handling anymore after 500 miles.

Darkside Question
Running the Dunlop SP 5000. It has its quirks and the front end definately has a different feel to it. Yeah I know, it's the back tire that changed but, I feel it more in the front. Stiffer. heavier, call it what you want. Not a bad thing, just something you need to get used to in pushing your bike around. When I hit the twisties I'm not thinking about it much. It can handle the curves just fine. I seem to be more stable in the tight technical turns and slow speed maneuvering. Fear not and go forth!

I didn't get the Turanza because it says Bridgestone on it.

Darkside Question
I'm running an Achilles ATR Sport 195/55-R16 and like the difference it makes in gearing. With this tire the speedometer error is huge (about 12%), but the bike pulls good from about 50 mph up in 5th gear. My normal cruising speed is between 80 & 85 indicated (about 71-76 actual) and the rpms do not seem to be excessive (maybe a little higher than I would like). I don't ever have to shift down to pass. I now have 18,000 + miles on the tire and it is getting pretty thin in the middle. I run 26-27 psi, even with two up. The rear of the bike sits a little lower and I occasionally scrape the exhaust pipes on tight turns. I may get a better quality tire next, but will probably stick with 195/55-R16.

Darkside Question
my premature tire wear on my sp 5000 i can definately attribute to over inflation. my center is worn out. got nervous about pulling trailer and having a heavy load, going to sturgis last year, ran it at 36 psi. i got about 10,000 on it and need to replace. will be running in that 28-30 psi from now on. new sp has arrived and will put on before sturgis this year.
