Getting Excited

Pretty quiet in here these days, but I for one am getting very excited about this upcoming riding season! I have my new tires and service done, but think I am going to change out my clutch spring pretty soon as well.

The weather up here has been outstanding this early in the spring and I have gotten in tons of riding! I am really excited for the big rides this summer as it will be a great to get out on the open road and see some new country! I hope others are feeling the same way.... ;)!

Hey Kris. I'm excited too! My steed is ready to go and I should get my first ride of the year pretty darn quick. Its just the darn rain holding me back. But soon enough things will be better weatherwise and I'm off. Chomping at the bit here! Patience, old man!!

My start will be delayed. In my usual forward leaning way I started my "winter" projects last night. I have everything off except the gas tank which comes off tonight and tomorrow. Everything goes to the painter on Friday. He said turn around will be about 4 weeks. I have decided to go with House of Kolor Candy Tangerine over a gold base. I may or may not do away with the chrome strips on the bags. I wanted to keep them but some of them are pretty scratched up and the are 55 dollars a piece.
When I do get back out there, there won't be another Nomad this color.

i have been getting out a couple of times per week here lately.
it has been primarily in the 40's and 50's but today it was 62
degrees.

I've been riding since early Feb. except during the week when I was way up north...

I wonder how the summer will be after such a warm winter/spring.

I've done only two things to my Nomad so far: removed the passenger seat + back rest and replaced the stop light with a fancy LED thing my friend gave. It spins clockwise and counterclockwise during normal operation and it flashes when the break is activated.

Solo Nomad looks great to me. Next, I might remove the windshield?

At least until you ride a 200 miler without it on there. Then it will go back on lickety split.... ;) !

Elvis...it is amazing how much a windshield blocks and how less tired you get. I took my windshield off my Nomad a couple weeks ago to clean it. Went for a ride for kicks.....got about a mile turned back and put in on! Never again.

Ballast...that sounds like a great color combo...can't wait to see it.

Kris....you gonna do the spring yourself or hire it done? I know Spirello did his own.

That's how I felt after I removed my Airlite engine guard chaps once. Took the bike for a quick spin without and felt this total windtunnel effect of air plowing through the guards and pushing my legs off the boards... . I couldn't get them back on fast enough... !

As far as my clutch spring...I plan to hire it out....but you know how they are. The shops want to replace the whole shooting match, clutch plates and all. It's a fight to get them to do only what you want. They really don;t like it when you show up with all the parts you purchased online for half what they wanted to charge you...but hey....they still make money on the labor!

Shoot Greg, I wonder if Spirello would be up for another go at it. Crap, I'd ride down there early on a Saturday, get-er done, spend the night at your place , then cruise home Sunday. That would be a good weekend right there!

Hhhmmm....CJ says he works for beer, but he is 1500 miles away. I wonder if that works on Spirello..... ;)!

I 'm with ballast. I am still working on fairing mounts , ok maybe "working" is a poor choice of words,I don't have the tour pak prepped for paint, but I do have a painter lined up. All I need now is effort and money This just got depressing.

Back in October I knew that 90 - 120days was going to fly by regarding projects, and yup, I'm still scrambling to get everything done. Working on a trailer hitch right now (one that I can still wear my lower chrome saddle bag rails). Atleast I got all my Caddamm, Techulsion, V&H Exhaust (with Bassani mufflers), and Cam Adjusters done... so I'm up and riding.
Charlie... sorry you didn't like the color of your bike and have to paint it. I like my one year only Black Pearl Metallic.... hehe

At the rate Charlie is getting things <s>done</s>...er....worked out, I'm betting he's still scrambling the week before Kalispell ::) ! Spring has sprung....better get'er done... ;)! It will look great though...can't wait to see it!
