Chrome Wheels

Has anyone one here had their factory wheels chromed and if so can you post pictures? I'm sending might out on my 99 to have done and was curious as to what they will look like when finished.

Oh... by the way... what did that cost -- where did you send them --- and what are the details of the chroming (thickness... and etc.)? (If you don't mind sharing.)

I am sending them to Gateway Xtreme down in KY. The cost is right around $750 for the set. Not sure of the particulars as far as thickness goes, but he was recommended to me by many people on the VTX boards. He also owns Stumpwerx.

I haven't seen chromed wheels on a Nomad but i'm sure they will turn out good. In my opinion though there are other things I would spend the money on. The wheels are hard to see on our bikes with the saddlebags in the rear and the dual disc brakes up front. But...it's your bike, you do what makes you happy and I look forward to seeing the pictures of the finished product. Of course, after seeing your pictures you might change my mind...LOL

Never have seen it done on a nomad either. I can't wait to see it!

Also doing the fork lowers while I have it apart and the switch housings since they don't make chrome aftermarket ones for the 99 model.

Tazfl, while I do agree with you in regards to not being able to see much of the rear wheel......I guess I'm just a chrome whore. LOL. There are a ton of other things going on that are chrome as well.

The front wheel will definitely look good, 'cause you see a lot of that. Oftentimes it's a combination of many small peices that are chromed that lead to a highly detailed look, rather than just one major item. So keep on a'chromin'!!!

Be sure and post pictures. Bet that front wheel will look really sharp. I had mine plated in brake dust.

The chrome lowers will make a world of difference, i had them done on the yellow bike in my sigpic, really stands out

Have you considered having them polished? The aluminum will polish to a chrome appearance. It might save you a few pennies.

Utah,

The only issue with polishing is the amount of work it takes to maintain the highly polished look. To me it's not worth the savings to have to put that much work into trying to keep them looking good when good ol soap and water works great on chrome.

note to myself the other day how I miss polishing my spoked rims on my 1500 vulcan!! Loved the look good luck and post lots of pictues never enough chrome!!
