Winter Glove Recommendation?

I started riding my Nomad this past March. I plan to continue commuting thru most of the up coming winter when the weather remains dry. Since my 28 mile commute home is between midnight & 3 am, I foresee the need for a pair of good winter gloves. I expect temps to be in the 30-40 degree range.

For those in the cooler climates, what do you suggest?

Nothing works well at 32 or below, it must be electric gloves then.

Tour Master makes a good winter glove. I've had mine for a couple of years now and they work just fine. Not to clumsey.

I ride most every winter and nothing works as well as a pair of ski gloves with a thin pair of gloves inside. I ride till it gets around 28 then I drive

A good quality snowmobile glove, with handlegrip heaters works the best for me. Even with good gloves you will get cold hands after a while, at least we do here. The grip heaters are the best option for cold weather in my opinion. There are a few company's offering them. Heres a couple links.

That's not true. I have some deerskin gauntlet gloves I bought at a local biker leather shop. They fit over the ends of my jacket sleeves and keep that rush of air from coming up my arms. For the one or two days it's REALLY chilly here, I have a nice pair of ski gloves I bought at Costco.

East Texas winter's are mild by comparison, but when it does get cold, I wear a good, thick leather glove and I wear a smartWool glove liner. The snow skier's up in the Northeast swear by it. So far it works well for me.

Ok, forgetting about riding, lets talk about gloves for COLD weather. I spend days out in the field hunting between mid November and February. Two things are most important for good glove. First the quality of the leather. If it aint waterproof you better be damn careful, there is a flip side to this, waterprrof usually means it doesn't breathe well. Second is the lining. Animal fur next to the skin is best. Thinsulate is an awesome product for packing but I will take both when given the choice. I where a glove that is leather and denim outer lining. Leather in the palm and finger tips and denim on the top of the hand and fingers so it breathes. The lining is thinsulate, find the highest rating. I always buy a size too big and then I have a thin pair of rabbit fur lined gloves that I will wear inside. Works much like the military issue gloves but better.

My father always swears buy big wool mittens with a Jersey glove inside. I dont know, I guess that would work ok. I dont see what it would hurt.

I tried the ski glove thing last spring & below 40 degrees at 60-70 mph they were for the most part useless. Very bulky & not flexible to the point my hand would cramp. But then again, they were the "El-cheepos" I found at the Wal-Mart sporting good section.

I looked on line & found "Winter Motorcycle Gloves" priced from the low $40 up over $150.00+ for heated ones. Being as frugal as I am it would ruin my day to spend so much on gloves just to find out I wasted my money.

I've tried at least a dozen different pairs of winter gloves, including a good pair of snowmobile gloves and the Tourmaster's discussed above, to be able to run all winter. I finally broke down and bought electric gloves and a vest 2 winters ago. I could never find a pair of gloves that kept my finger tips from freezing and they are awesome. I swore I'd never buy electric gloves, but then again I swore I'd never have a bike with a windshield.........

Rich, I have ridden thur'out winters and it does get 32 and near 0 here in TX. i ride at 32 and above so have tried ALOT of winter gloves. Ski gloves too mushy and bulky and still cold. Winter gloves alone and winter liners, still cold, I have not tied the snap heat packs some say work well. So im still looking for that magic winter glove.

I don't plan on riding below 35-40*. I'll try the gloves first, then add the silk liners. If that doesn't keep me warm, then I'll bite the bullet & start driving the car.
