A friend has an Indian Vintage which weighs 75 lbs less than my XCT and he can't keep up with my 106. The 111 is done at about 3800 rpm, my 106 is still pulling hard at 5000 rpm. The 111 beats the 106 in cubic inches and that's it.

I just remember reading over and over and over that 106 beats 103 in Brad's earlier posts. So it seemed logical to draw that conclusion. I'm sure it is chafing Brad day and night.

But you jumped right in as expected. I'm continually amazed that all the XCT riders glory in having the fastest slow bike out there. Kinda like bragging because your turtle can beat a snail! :hmm: :D

Not even close, I own a XCT and have seen the Roadmaster lowers, not even close. Much closer to the HD desgn.

OK , so I have another question for all you Victory XCT riders.

What are your thoughts about the Indian Roadmaster being the start of the demise for the Victory XCT ? I can't see Polaris producing bikes that are in direct competition of each other. Comments ?????

It's as if Victory designers designed the topcase and lowers. Not very Indian looking.

GIBBY

Not in direct competition with each other, in my opinion. Victory is the performance brand and Indian is the Nostalgic brand. Victory is much more reasonably priced and appeals more to the daily rider where as Indian appeals more to the occasional rider. Not many are going to spend nearly 30 large on a bike that they intend on putting 20-30 thousand miles on per year. I am confident that Victory will be around as long as I am able to ride. Scott Wine, CEO of Polaris is a very savvy businessman and he has stated that Victory and Indian will be around for a long time. And yes Dank, I am talking about V-twin heavy cruisers and touring bikes. And yes, your Honda is much faster and handles better, blah, blah, blah......

The XCT is such a better Value than the Roadmaster. If I was in the Market, as much as I think the Indians are cool. the Victory is the better bike for the Money and may be better period. The only thing I'd change on the XCT is the brake pads. Put some HH compound pads on it (Based on my test ride of a Vision, it needs more bite and feel).

Virtually all of the Victory designers were moved over to Indian design when the Indian brand was purchased, so you are correct in your observation. Oh yeah, what does an Indian topcase and lowers look like?

I can see some of the lines from the XCT case. The lowers and case don't seem to flow perfectly. The Indian is organic shaped while the Victory has an edge, a little like anime. Neither is bad, but there is a different look.

Today's business climate dictates that as soon as a company cannot meet its expectations, the plug is pulled. If Indian fails to perform, Polaris will drop it like a hot potato. There's no place for sentimentality in business today.

there are reports out there that Polaris has a new water cooled engine and they intend to focus on the power cruiser segment of the market leaving
indian to compete against Harley.i have seen three drawings submitted by
victory engineers using this new motor and to me they look much like the
V-ROD.

The Indian does nothing for me. It looks like it was designed sections at a time.

The Victory XCT is the opposite. Nice consistent design that flows together well, it is cheaper and according to Mike it is more powerful. No contest IMHO.

I do agree the two bikes will split a certain amount of biz. That is my .02

Harley sells a $25K Ultra limited and a $39K Ultra CVO. Both sell well and have their own niche. I think Indian and Victory will have the same Dave.

The SCT still have a substantial advantage is carrying capacity. Still the largest capacity on the market today.

I see dynojet has a new processor for the Indian 111, that should help even the power differences.

But really,,, do you really buy a bagger for top end power? If I really want a fast bagger I'd put my throw over bags on a ZX14.....

It's a huge engine on a bike that can't handle well, stop well and is heavy as hell. Did I mention it throws off heat?

I got a chance to see a couple of these in person this week and I have softened my criticism of the design. In person it does not look as chopped up as my first impression looking at it online.

Still not my cup of tea but the design is more consistent than originally thought.

Well, I did a demo ride last evening on the new Indian Roadmaster.
I absolutely love the styling on the Chieftain and the Roadmaster has the same styling for the basic bike. Indian designers have been quoted as saying they designed the Roadmaster first and then stripped it to make the Chieftain and that does make perfect sense. I do NOT like the styling of the hard lowers or the trunk, I think they look bloated and clunky. The seat is VERY nice and plush and it is also heated, a must in this climate for early spring and late fall riding. The seat on the Roadmaster does move the rider back 1-2 inches and that is appreciated by us large guys.
The power is the same as the Chieftain and has a lot of torque up to about 3800 rpm's where it starts to fall off.
The information window is still almost impossible to see in the daylight but the stereo is kick ass.
All in all, I was REALLY happy to get back on my Cross Country Tour which I feel is a better motorcycle and a whole lot less expensive.

I want to love the Indian even though I haven't ridden one yet. I want to love the styling but have some similar hesitations as you about a couple of the esthetics, which is a shame because the things I like I REALLY LIKE. I'll be keeping my eye on all the models for sure.

I want to love the Indian Roadmaster also. I love the retro styling and some of the features are VERY nice, but I cannot bring myself to buy a bike that I am almost certain to be disappointed with. With that said I still want an Indian, what is wrong with me?
