I'm not sure if this topic has been covered before or not (I searched but did not locate it). But are there any leather saddle bag options for the Nomad? The stock bags are good, however I like the look of leather bags.

I'm with you Scott that is one of the reasons I wanted the Nomad. I am just not the leather type. Give me that hard plastic any day.

The unique Nomad saddlebags were one of the reasons a lot of us bought our Nomads. I'm sorry, I can't see putting leather bags on one.

I like the hard bags also, just not a fan of side opening bags. Nothing worse then having your gear spill out when you open them. I bought the Nomad because of everything I heard and read about it, compromised on the bags .

Any leather saddlebag ought to work I would recommend the saddleman jumbo bags. They ought to fit better than a normal sized bag.

Man...replacing the beautiful hard bags with leather? That should be illegal.

If you must maybe a leather like product is better. Now i like real leather alot, but I find in time, sun, rain, oil, that real leather is a pian, unless you really care for it, and maintain it.

I have leather like bags as new from 1999. No leather will do that.

Then I am what is known as a Buck Skinner, and that is all about real leather everything, as clothing head to toe, and all sort of real leathers, but i wouldn't put real leather bags on a bike these days if my life depended on it.

I have even iced down the beverage of the day in my leather like bags and with no effect what so ever, other than being told my bags are leaking .

So far nothing falls out of my Nad bags. I have liners which I don't use all the time, but I have 0 problems with things falling out. Maybe because I roll things up and neatly stack what ever I have in them.

I don't like top cover opening bags either, and leather like or real both types tend to leak in rain.

The plastic they use should be heavy enough to use the original mounting system on the Nomad to mount the leather bags. If you look at the factory "leather" bags that come on motorcycles they are mounted through the plastic piece..

CC, your leather isn't what's out there everywhere. I don't mean you and your Portmantus.

Now I been riding since about 1962, and lets just see how many leather bags are still around from then or before, that suffered engine oil. I know that answer 0.

It's a good bet if you bought leather bags in 1999 they are dead. I mean if anyone with them rode any. Even on the shelf they are likely to be dead with 0 use.

You know a few things about leather while the rest of the world has no idea what time is.
