Vaquero Debaffle

Alright guys so I had to lay down the vaquero today, and since its going to be sitting for a while until I can get replacement parts and a mechanic to do a once over to make sure everything is still good to go besides some body parts.. I will have time to save money with a stock exhaust debacle instead of an aftermarket.. Plus the money I could spend on the exhaust can now go towards repairs. Does anyone know how hard it is and if it actually works well? Or any thread that would tell me what I need? Thanks for the help guys!

Steve

Did my 2012 Voyager pipes by drilling the baffles. I did this by using a 1 1/4" hole saw straight in the back of the mufflers, while still on the bike. There are 2 plates in each muffler from the rear, then you have the catalitic converters. You will need an extension to reach the plates. Wont make it loud, but louder than stock and gives a nice little rumble. Spray some oil on the hole saw to help it cut better. Took me about 30-40 minutes to do 2 baffles in each pipe. Hopefully the plates come out with the hole saw. May need to fish them out with a long magnet. I think 1 of mine is still loose in there after 3 years. At about 45 seconds nto this video, you'll get an idea of the sound to expect. There is another baffle from the front, but you can only get the right side without cutting the crossover pipe and welding it back on. I left the converters intact.

Greetings,
Have done the debaffle twice as described above. The sound is deeper and a little louder. You definitely are not going to upset the neighbors with this mod. If you get two 12" extensions you can get through the converter material and the third plate. The converter material will fill your bi-metal hole-saw. You will know when it is full, pull out the hole-saw and remove material, repeat. There is enough material to fill a hole-saw twice on each side.
If using a cordless drill, have extra batteries on stand-by, or be prepared to take breaks while they charge! :)

When using the hole saw, after the first plate at the end does the baffle come out and then you use the extension for the second plate? I think I'm going to leave the cat in the first round to see how I feel abou it

I'm sorry to hear you lost control of your ride. Maybe an ABS bike is in your future.

Unless your a stunt man, there is no way you are laying down a bike on purpose. You are panic stopping and locking up the brakes which causes you to go down.

Sorry to hear your bike was damaged.
Fortunately it sounds as if you escaped uninjured.
Best of luck getting back on the road.

You should be fine like this then. As long as the cats are left intact, they will not get loud, but you do get a nice low rumble. I usually come in about 11:30 at night and have never heard a complaint from those living near by, even on the rare occasion I work over and come in at 3:30am.

Has anyone just drilled holes around in a circle on the back of the pipes? This is what was referred to as step 1 on the 900. It gave me that rumble, i was quite happy with the sound.
