Vaquero Passenger backrest too short

Hi folks , just bought a new vaquero. Loving it so far 1600 kms (1000mi) on the clock so far . So I went ahead and bought the Kawasaki passenger back rest kit . It’s low and leans back a bit far Compared to most factory backrests that I’ve seen , Has anyone fixed this ? And if so would you care to give a fella some advice and maybe even share some pics. Before I get the welder out .

Thanks and happy riding

I have seen where people have moved the backrest up a bolt hole but when you do you only have 1 bolt in each side. It is still in the channel that it sits in normally. But still seems it would be stronger than the Grasshopper backrest people use for the driver. YMMV Just a cheap solution, you will have to decide on the safety though. Maybe even go with a graded nut and bolt since Stainless is soft?

No welder needed! I'm trying to find the internet site I bought these extenders from. You'll see the offset piece installed. At the time you could get the 4 inch like I did or 6 inches.

I'll tag along this conversation, as I could see where those extensions would be a tad more comfy for the passenger.
