Tornado Strikes North Alabama
After the tornado that roared through Yazoo City, Mississippi and destroyed a lot of the town and county and left at least 10 dead. At 10:35 PM last night another tornado hit the town just five miles north of me. The town is Albertville, Alabama and there was damage to the newly built high school, a Foodland store, the public library, First Baptist Church and a BP service station. Traffic on US highway 431 has to be diverted around a lot of the destruction. A lot of homes were damaged or destroyed and trees and power lines were downed. As of this time don't know if there were any fatalities or about injuries. Will give you a report when I know more. I had to go and get my step daughter and step granddaughter and I was able to see much of the destruction. Drove across several downed power lines and dodges downed trees to get them. Their power has been off since the tornado and it may be days before power is restored. Here I am just five miles from where the tornado roared through and we have no damage and power is still on.
