Iron Butt ride
On Monday I'll be doing my first Iron Butt ride. :)
We'll be starting in Provo UT and taking I-15 south to Vegas, than taking US-95 to Tonopah NV, than taking US-6 to Ely NV, than take US-93 to Wendover NV, and I-80 back to home. Anyone familiar with these roads? I've only ridden on I-15. The rest will be new to me.

What's the total distance? Good luck and enjoy the ride. Make sure you have plenty of water.

Here's the map. We aren't 100% set on this route yet. This just appears to be the best weather as of right now.

You said "we" in your original post. How many riders? Watch each other for signs of fatigue.
Good luck! |

There will be three of us. We are planning on meeting tomorrow to look over each others bikes, change fluids, and make final route, time etc. plans.
I put 650 miles easily, in one day, on my 900. We weren't really even planning on it. I'm young and don't anticipate any problems, but will be very careful.

I've driven the section from Ely to Wendover. It was 20 years ago, though. There's not much between Ely and Wendover. They still have legal brothels in Ely. ::)
I hope you have researched your fuel stops, etc. After Vegas you will be in one of the most desolate regions in the United States. Good luck to you, ride safe!

We have planned all of our stops. And one of the guys almost always has a gallon of gas in his trunk.
It should be good. Posted speed out there is 65mph, but there isn't much out there so we're hoping to be able to scoot along a little quicker than that.
