Final drive

The final drive on my 03 Nomad calls for single weight oil. I changed out to wall-mart brand 75w140 full synthetic. We ride in winter and the single weight oil seems like it would be mighty thick at a temp of 35.Also at a temp of 98 and 75 miles per hour seems like the 140 would be better.Think their is anything bad that could come from this.

manual calls for a typical 75-90W gear oil, not sure if going that low-high on the numbers would casue a problem or not, I stuck with the above weight.

I agree with Doc... I bought the recommended oil from the dealership where I bought my Nad and it was 80-90W gear oil. They sell it in the exact size you need to change it out. I just did mine and was kind of suprised how much it needed it.

Wanna keep the bike upright and level while changing final drive lube or checking tire pressure. Get a 12" piece of 3" PVC pipe. Cut one end to match the radius of what ever mufflers your running. With someone holding the bike level, measure the distance from the bottom of the muffler to the floor and cut the PVC to that length. Make two of them. Slide one under the right side, upright the bike and put the other one under the kick stand side. Works like a dream.

I got a lift I bought from Advance Auto to lift the Goldwing with but It dont work well on the nomad. No flat spots to lift on. A 2x4 and a wedge of wood under kickstand gets it real close to upright then just a nudge on the handle bar gets is upright. Just DONT let go.

Idaho is a member here. I received my adapter from him yesterday. Here's the thread http://kawanow.proboards77.com/index...ead=1194439719
