My baby got scratched

No, not the bike. It's my other baby, my brand new truck.

I park in a large public parking lot when I go to the office. I left work today and was greeted a by nice 6 inch scratch right in the middle of the driver's side door of my 3-week old truck. The Buick parked right next to my truck is the prime suspect but I have no proof. There are things I would like to do to the a$$hole responsible for this...

Here is the photo of the damage:

The scratch appears smooth for the most part so it is probably just the clear coat that got roughed up. There are a couple of spots where I can feel it under my finger nails but the fingers go right over those spots so this appears to be just a surface scratch.

My question is...

Is this something that can be fixed with just some rubbing compound or am I looking at wet sanding first and then the rubbing compound followed by some polish?

Thanks
