Sold the FJR

I sold my Yamaha FJR tonight.

It was hard for me to get comfortable on a sport tourer.

I am not sure if a new bike is in my future and if there is I am not sure what that bike will be.

Well that is too bad. How tall are you?

Can you identify what it is you are not comfortable with?

What year was your FJR?

5'10". 2011 FJR.

Foot position, knee too bent. Forward leaning position, hands go numb and pain between shoulderblades.

Not sure about the foot position, but not all sport tourers are the same. Take a look at a Trophy, RT or ST. More upright than then FJR and you can still put risers and peg lowering kit on them. That said, adventure bikes have a UJM seating with more seat to peg room. Like the Vstroms, Versys, GS, etc. There are some standards out there too. Honda has the CB1100 and a pre 2015 R1200R is a neat bike. Check out cycle ergo.

Ah...I remember it well: Sounds like how I felt on my C10 Concours.

Take a ride on a Road King that has been lowered if you can find one. Your feet would be flat on the ground, your riding position would be sitting upright, and the bars would be back far enough to keep you comfortable.

I'm the same height and had similar problems with my Nomad 1700 until I got the bars to where I was sitting up without having to lean forward. I ride 10 - 12 hour days and don't have any issues at this point. If you only ride around your town and don't spend considerable time in the seat you may want a lighter 800 -900 cc bike.

Yep. Riding position was something I noted on my recent demo ride of the FJR. Risers and higher seating position would be required for me as well.

I know you have some physical issues that probably magnified the problem. I hope you find something that works for you.

Not a fan of Harleys.
Most of my rides are full days out, no commuting.
My next bike, if there is one, will have been made in Japan.

May be you should take a look at the Versys 1000 LT. There's a trunk for it too. I've heard good things about it. The only downside I see is the chain drive. Of course the ST1300 might work too. This is a tough one.

At this point I am considering an 1800 Gold Wing as my next and last bike.

It might work well for you as it's made for the average height male. So is the HD and Indian too. The Victory touring rigs work well for taller folk. You'll enjoy changing the air filter though...

If you're looking at the wings and don't need the trunk take a look at the Gold Wing F6B.

No ABS on the F6B and cruise control only on 2015 and later.
